G'day - another new member to these forums ;)
I've started running for fitness about 2 weeks ago. I run / brisk walk for 30 minutes almost every night.
I'm having trouble however, halfway through my run (around the 10 - 15 minute mark) I get a bad stitch on my right side. I've read somewhere that the more I run, the less this will happen - but I'm finding I can only walk after I get this stitch as it subsides a bit, but as soon as I try running again it comes back in full force. :(
I'm wondering if there is a reason for the stitch? Perhaps I'm simply unfit? I'm not too over-weight (88kg - 190cms / 194lb - 6'3"), I'm 23 but haven't been involved in any sports for around 3 years now.
I run late at night at around 11pm, it's winter here in Australia - so it's perhaps 10 C (50 F) when I'm running. I drink diluted Powerade with water 50/50, about half a cup before running, and about a cup as I run. I don't feel like I'm pushing myself too hard, my legs could go further I feel - it's just the stitch and breathing that's holding me back.
Please help me with your suggestions :)

It's a pretty common problem, and like you said, it does get better as you run more.

Champion, thanks!
I think my problem is eating too soon before running, I'll see how I go ;)

It is a very common problem. I had it too early on also but never traced it to eating as I never do before a run. I just struggled to run through it and it eventually went away. 5 years later, I never ever get them. It will get better! :D
