I have several prolapsed disc as result of car accident ( 3 yrs ago). MRI revealed damage from T8 to T12. One of the discs is on the sac but has not displaced the cord. Rest have compressed the spinal cord in varying degrees. Symptoms are continual severe back pain & diminishing use of right leg & arms. Severity of symptoms have been gradually increasing...
I have undergone numerous types of Physio treatment with only temp. relief. The Physiotherapists have now advised against further treatment as they have been unsuccessful. I have also had Tilt Table Traction Treatment, Hydrotherapy & numerous anti-inflamatory, anti-spasm & pain killers. The last pain killers was for a two week corse of Endone to try & settle a particularily bad episode of pain. The Endone did help with the pain but being a narcotic my doctor is reluctant to re-prescribe for the time being. This "episode" is still continuing after four weeks with no relief in sight. I have also been advised to consider narcotic patches but they scare me.
I have been advised that Disclactomies (sp) are not possible due to curvature of my Lumbar spinal region. Last series of Physio has revealed that the L1 is also breaking down & probably also now prolapsed as well.
Is there some other form of treatment that I can try? I am currently unable to work, drive or get out of the house. Unconventional or not, anything at this point is worth a try. I am desperate for some help as I can see this progressing getting worse. PLEASE HELP ME ??? P.S. I live in South Australia & I am a 42 yr old female.

I was diagnosed with a prolapsed disc nearly 3 weeks ago, and was wondering when it would be safe to drive again?
