Hi, I'm 27 years old and I have a problem with one of my testicles. Sometimes I think it’s placed too high in my scrotum. When one testicle goes down into the scrotum so does the other but not completely. I don’t have any special difficulties with this raised testicle, no pain or any discomfort that I could notice. The only thing I have a problem with is the fact that my girlfriend finds in odd and funny. Are there any dangers of having a raised testicle and is there a possible treatment?

It is not unusual to find testicles that are unusually placed inside the scrotum. One is usually placed higher than the other, and they can also vary in size. They are almost never identical, and that is totally natural. If one of your testicles is placed unusually high that may represent a danger, since a testicle too close to the rest of the body may become dysfunctional. For the process of spermatogenesis to happen in testicles their temperature has to be around 35 degrees Celsius, if the temperature is higher, closer to the abdominal temperature of 37 degrees Celsius then the spermatogenesis stops. There are two reasons why your testicle may be placed little bit higher than usual: one is incomplete decent of the testicle to the scrotum during early childhood, and the other is an operation of the inguinal hernia that leaves one testicle placed higher than the other. If you suspect that you might have one or the other situation you should talk to your doctor about it and ask him for advice.

After a bout with a urinary tract infection my left testicle got really swollen. Went to the doctor and was put on more antibiotics for a more severe condition called testiculitis it think. The antibiotics worked all the swelling went away but now my left testicle is higher than the other and also I notice less sperm at ejaculation. What could be the problem. No pain, no discomfort, just a raised left ball and less sperm.
