When I was about 24 I had my first outbreak of shigles, or herpes zoster. I would have several outbreaks a year. I am now thirty and the outbreaks have been reduces to one to three times a year. I have noticed the outbreaks come around my period, the day after my wedding, after long month of christmas shopping and taking care of newborn. I have read that outbreaks normally occur once and recurring outbreaks may be due to underlying problem with immune system. I am very healthy, exercise weekly, eat right, will be traing for triathlones over the summer, why do I have so many outbreaks and is this something I should worry about or look into?

It is very unlikely but not unheard of to see Zoster in a 24 y/o. But it is even more unlikely, almost unheard of to have zoster several times a year. Even in transplant patients or individuals infected with HIV it is extremely rare to have multiple episodes in the same person.
My suspicion is that you probably have herpes simplex (HSV1). Nothing to be ashamed of, this is very common and usually acquired in childhood. Everyone between 16 and 65 should be tested for HIV at least once and repeat if you have any risky behaviors. So I would suggest getting that out of the way. The second thing I would suggest is talking to your GP to prescribe acyclovir to take as needed for the outbreaks. Catch them early, you may have shorter duration of symptoms. Good luck
