My eight year old son has been complaining of frequent urination for a few weeks now. He says there is no pain and no burning. We had him tested at urgent care and they found red blood cells only (no WBC at all), and bacteria. They went ahead and ran a culture and it came back fine. He is so miserable..kids are starting to make comments about it at school. Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong? I'm getting very concerned, but the doctors don't seem to be taking it very seriously. I would appreciate any input I could get on the matter. Thank you:)

My daughter had this same problem. It started when she was about 4yrs old. Bed wetting was also a major issue. She lived at the urologist's office.
Constant infections and constant urge to urinate (we knew every restroom within a 100 mile radius), along with infections.
Now at 24 yrs old, she was diagnosed with intersistital cystitis several years ago and a bladder that only holds 8oz of urine.
To have a specimen ran of her urine it always shows red blood cells (that is part of IC).
Males can have this problem too. There are alot of things that can help this along with diet. You may want to try this simple diet just to see if it helps your son.
Avoid all acid (ie: fruit, juices, tomatoes, etc). No pop, tea or chocolate (caffeine). No spicy foods.
You may also want to ask the doctor about interstitial cystitis...but be aware that many family practioners are not very familiar with this. You may have to visit a well informed urologist.
Not saying this is the problem but it may be worth checking into.
