Hi. I had a root canal 2 weeks ago. The outside of the gum is sensitive to touch and pressure. This started a day or 2 after the root canal. It has gotten slightly better. I went back and the endodontist said give it another month. if it still bothers me, then he will re-treat it he said.

Do I have to pay again though? Is it customary to be charged for a re-treat?
I only ask because if there's canals he missed, shouldn't he have seen it on the first try? I mean why does it take a 2nd time to see? It's obvious he could have seen these canals, just didn't bother to look so in depth the first time. Not my fault.
Please advise. Thanks.

A dentist charges you for his time. Yes, I think he will charge you again for the retreatment. If you don't want to talk to your dentist, you can always ask the receptionist whether or not you will be charged for the retreatment.
