Roxicet and Percocet contain a specific amount of Oxycodone 5mg 7.5mg 10mg etc. Oxycodone is the narcodic that is the primary pain reliever! Oxycodone is Oxycodine! To suggest otherwise is plain ignorance. Tylenol helps boost the narcodic effect in pain meds., as does ASA. Keep in mind the more Tylenol (Acetaminophen) you injest the higher chance of liver damage. As I recall, "Percodan" contained asprin or Emprin and not Acetaminophen. I don't know if Percodan is still available. Talk to your doctor if you are using meds that contain Acetaminophen Try and avoid prolonged use of that additive. In addition, as with any pain medication you WILL develop a residence the longer you take the medication.

What most don't realize is that a significant portion of pain relief comes from the placebo affect, which involves the release of endogenous opioids. These chemicals, released by your brain, activate the same receptors as their prescription friends. Thus, if you convince yourself there's a difference, a chemical difference truly will develop. The plain and simple truth, as we keep describing, is that there is no true difference. If you were to formulate the generic in the same shape and color as the brand name, the discrepancy would vanish. There may be some variation in inactive ingredient formulation, but as a chemist I can assure you that with almost every drug out there, any such variations will not significantly affect its absorption. The only major exception is with extended release formulations such as OxyContin and Roxicodone (NOT Roxicet), which shouldn't differ significantly in their release, but it's possible.

I've specifically discussed this issue with people who are taking the drug for pain, and never has anyone noticed a difference in relief between Percocet and Roxicet. The only reason you see so many arguments to the contrary is because you've come to a thread created by people who think there's a difference. Furthermore, if your doctor agrees to write you the name brand because he agrees the generic affects you differently, he's finally given in to your silly demands to get you to stop complaining about differences that are in your head.

They are **NOT** identical. The Endo brand is the only generic that works as well as the name brand Percocet(since they are identical). Take them into a lab and break them down and see. It's not the placebo effect, it's the truth, unfortunately.

I have been taken percocet 5-325 now for awhile and it seems to relieve my breakthrew pain. But this last trip to the pharmacy they gave me roxicet 5-325 instead of percocet and i dont even feel the relief from this. I can take 2 tabs 2 times a day because I take morphine 60mg 2x's a day. I have taken up to 6 tabs of this at one time and I still dont feel this medication. So my mom came over to my house last night and asked if she could have a pain pill for her back. Mind you she dont take pain meds at all unless it tylenol and when she takes a percocet once in awhile it knocks her out but my point to this story she didnt feel this at all either. So I paid like 22$ more for this mediation this time around because of the manufature and its not no good. So my opion about percocet vs roxicet its not the same cause percocet helps my pain decrease and the roxicet I get more relief taking tylenol then this c**p and from this point on I will not get the roxicet I will deny it from the pharmacy. >;)

Uhh there is acetaminophen, which is tylenol, in Roxicet... get your facts straight, thats why when you have a 5/325, thats 5mg oxycodone to 325 acetaminophen...

I had an umbilical hernia operation two days ago and was given percocet in the hospital. After I got out the pharmacy gave me roxicet as a substitute. Honestly I can't tell the difference. The roxicet takes away the pain enough that I can walk around without much pain. The only thing I've been noticing is that I'm feeling more lethargic or depressed than I usually am. I rarely ever take pills for anything and dont like taking these pain pills, but the pain would be untolerable without them, plus they help me to fall asleep faster.

You are all idiots (save one or two). Roxicet is NOT available in 15 or 30 mg tablets; only Roxicodone is. Roxicodone is pure oxycodone. Roxicet is exactly the same as Percocet, hence the suffix -cet (referring to the aCETaminophen in it). Just like Percocet, Roxicet has a maximum of 10 mgs of oxycodone with, for example, 500 mgs of acetaminophen. It's quite simple. I administer these medications daily. Literally 98% of these posts are totally incorrect and contain numerous typos.

I heard that the medicine lasts longer, so you would not have to take as often. Are you taking pills or liquid? I was just in the hospital and a nurse told me that.

Roxies are actually roxicodone (pure, instant release oxycodone/HCI), where as Roxicet is oxycodone/APAP. The two are very different. Roxicodone comes in 5mg, 15mg and 30mg. No APAP (tylenol), extremely rapid release and typically stronger pain relief. While abuse is rampant among both medications, there is a bigger market for roxicodone due to it's similarity to oxyContin. Although, oxyContin and roxicodone only functional similary when the time release is tampered with on the oxyContin.

It's important to recognize the difference between roxicet and roxicodone because like I said, roxicodone is a much stronger, quicker drug.
I have used both and gotten alot of info from my mom, a retired pharmasist.

I think there is a difference as well.. but from what i know the only difference is the fillers.
from my experience percocet is oxycocet and roxicet is more like endocets.
Most people would say its the exact same thing but I think that percocet is more effective and u feel less nausea.
Everyone is difference. My pharmacist says alot of people say the same thing.
Its pretty much 99 percent the same.

I just received an RX of Roxicet 5-325. I had been getting Oxycod/Apap 5-325.
I have to say the Roxicet just doesn't kill my pain either. Not only that it gave me insomnia. I take Ambien to go to sleep and I was up all night. Didn't have any caffeine yesterday. To those who say it is in my head. Sorry, no, the pain is real, this stuff just doesn't cut it.
I will call my insurance company to get the other generic brand that works, Oyycod/APAP. This Roxicet is NOT working. :'(

I don't know who you are or what your credentials are, but I have my masters in education and consider myself to be of above average intelligence. I would never suggest to anyone that 99.9percent of rx brand name vs generic are the same. First of all there are thousands of circumstances to rake into consideration. Doctors, insurance companies and pharmacists have no communication. Everones systems are completely diffferent, therefore the advice you gave could cause extreme harm and/or death. From personal experience I am well aware that at least three prescriptions that have ended up in me having life threatening grand mall seizures due to the difference in brand name and generic prescriptions. This was with the communication Among my drs, pharmacist and insurance....and still effects have been devastating. THERE ISVA DIFFERENCE IN MANY BRAND NAME AND GENERIC DRUGS. Many drug companies may use the same recipe, but many drug manufacturer's do not provide the same amount of bioavailability (meaning that the active ingredient in the drug is not up to par) or they use fillers that may be dangerous that are not required to be qualified by the FDA. MY life has forever changed in devastating ways because of a switch between generic drugs. I am out of work, depressed, having seizures and other severe medical issues. MY ADVICE TO ALL IS FOR EVERYONE TO TRIPLE CHECK NOT ONLY WITH DR! INS AND PHARMACY! BUT TO ALSO DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH...people are dying left and right due to the lack of communication and the desire to save money. I am only grateful that I am still here. The medications I have had major issue with are Avelox, keppra, tegretol, codeine and percocet. I would have rather paid a million dollars than be in the situation I now find myself in, and this was after following the advice of a brain surgeon.

thereis a difference percocet do have tylenol and roxys (street name) dont. Roxys are also more addictive. I will be clean 2 yrs on oct 28th 2011 but roxys and other more potant opiates ( Oxyconton(oxys) and so on) should be carefully disstributed not given as a substitute for milder ones ie percocet, vicoden. Patients should be warned that the more potant are are addicting and habit forming so that people know what they are getting into. Even if u dnt want to u can even get physically addicted and not even knw it. its not fair and patients should knw what the pharmacies and drug companys are doin to them....!
