The active painkileers r the same if u had 5 mg of percocet and got switched to 5mg of roxicet u have the same oxycodone dose the difference it feeling is the missing anti inflamitory that percocet has and roxicet doesn't. I switched from percs to roxis when the Tylenol in the percocet messed my stomach up.  So to sum it up the narcotic is the same but one has an anti inflamitory and the other is pure oxycodone. So for those with inflammation will not feel as much relief from the roxicet as they do the percocet.

Just because you administer these meds each person who take them will have a different reaction to them. I have taken Percocet 5/325 for chronic back pain for a number of years since major back surgery, The Percocet has been working Great to relieve my pain it also seems to make me feel a little more energetic. My problem is my last refill the online pharmacy gave me Roxicet 5-325 my results were very little if any pain relief a lethargic feeling slight depression, it almost feels as though I have taken a placebo. But this is only my own experience I am no expert only my own reaction to these two medications. Thank you.

I realize your a doctor but explain this then I took Percocet and it relived my pain the next prescription I took was roxicet but I didn't know this till half way thru the prescription and it was not relieving my pain. Now if this all supposedly psychological then why didn't I feel the same effects I did not know it wasn't Percocet. Also I only take it as needed not everyday so there is no immunity to the pain reliever. I usually go thru a 30 pill prescription in 6 to 7 months and this only my second prescription since my injury.

I had to state some serious facts here! Whether it be a doctor or pharmacist that thinks they know best, generics are all made the same, it is NOT true. I am a true believer when it comes to this topic. I spoke directly with several pharmacist and even they stated only the main key ingredients in a drug must meet the same criteria, but companies use different fillers and some people are just sensitive to this situation. I had tried 3 different generic brands of my sleep aid Ambien and definitely found they all worked differently. Recently I had to be put on Opiate meds for my degenerative disc disease while I await having surgery. I also tried 3 different types of Oxycodone for pain and Watson was the strongest, mallinkrodt was in the middle and amneal barely even worked, so yes they are all different and it is not in everyone's head, trust me!!

I did exactly this suggestion, and I can tell which one I took withing 20 minutes. Intellectually I agree with the poster who said generics are 99+% the same, but physically I agree with the rest of the posters here who say they can tell the difference. I don't have enough for a truly scientific study, but I put 5 of each (5/325 strength) into a bottle and was honest with myself while taking them out, trying very hard to hold the round edge as the sides are different. After 20 minutes, I would decide what I had taken, and then look at the remaining tablets, and I never got it wrong. I can often break 1 percocet in half and get sufficient pain relief to avoid taking the 2nd half for 3-4 hours. WIth the Rixocet, a whole pill often fails to cut the pain, and sometimes it takes 2.

While the actual "medicine" in the various Percocet equivalents is the same the inert ingredients (binder, dye, etc.) can be and in fact usually are different.  The term "inert" is what causes so much confusion.  The ingredients are considered inert because they generally have no effect on the person taking them.  However, and it is a big however, the person can have an allergic reaction to one or more of these ingredients.  Those reactions can range from mild to severe depending on your sensitivity to the substance.  That is why you may be able to take the "peach" colored substitutes and not the "white" ones, etc.  Should you experience a reaction, which can include the medication not seeming as effective, call your doctor and explain what is going on.  If your doctor is not aware of the effect "inert" ingredients in a medication can have then he/she most likely did not finish near the top of their class (remember there is always someone who barely graduates) and you should consider changing your physician.  Anyone telling you that you are imaging things without running tests is just speculating, which is not good medicine.

I agree with you. however, name brand percocet is a lot stronger than generic pain pill. I was in the emergency rm for shingles they gave me 2 percocet blue pill, they had me floating around that em rm.got home took 2 generic percocet and they were nothing like the name brand. the effect wasn't even close.

Just got my first Rx of "Roxicet 5-325", usually I get "Oxycodone-Acetaminophen 5-325.   Definitely a very different taste (I take without water).  So definitely not the same.  As to effectiveness, I don't know yet.

Unfortunately, over the past six years I have had 5 major surgeries, including a lumbar micro discectomy and reconstructive elbow surgery. I am all too familiar with the effects of several different narcotic painkillers. The most effective pain reliever, for me, in all cases, has been Percoset. Today, due to severe pain from oral surgery I was prescribed Percoset, but my pharmacist gave me Roxicet, saying it was the same thing. I had no reason not to believe him and here's what happened when I got home tonight: I took 2 pills and within ten minutes I started to feel that familiar feeling, unlike Percosets which usually took longer. But after an hour, two hours, three... I was still in some pain. The pain was definitely not as bad as it had been before taking 2 Roxicets, but I can say with absolute certainty that had I taken 2 Percosets I would not have been feeling anything. I don't care what anyone here says, the effects are NOT the same. And it's not "all in my head" (no pun intended). I'm in tune enough with my body and familiar enough with real pain to know. So I'm genuinely pissed off. And my suspicion is that when I confront my pharmacist and/or doctor about it they will both say the same thing that other doctors and nurses here have said, which is that there is no difference in efficacy. I was told by several different doctors some years ago that taking Tramadol for my chronic back pain was not dangerous or addictive. Guess what? They were all wrong. I've since researched it thoroughly and found that Tramadol (a synthetic opiate) can have worse withdrawal symptoms than any of the usual narcotics. And, in fact, when I weened from Tramadol after having taken it for several months, I felt about as horrible (for weeks) as I can possibly imagine ever feeling. So, just because someone is a doctor or nurse or pharmacist, it does not necessarily mean that everything they say or advise should always be taken as gospel. I'm sure in most, if not all, cases there is no intention of misleading anyone but if you ask any doctor, nurse or pharmacist whether or not all doctors, nurses and pharmacists are always right or equipped with all of the necessary information or experience to make correct diagnoses or treatments they would say no. If they said yes I would seriously question their own credibility. The bottom line is, right this minute, I am an hour into a second dose of Roxicet this evening and my mouth still hurts like hell. So there.

Although percocet and roxicet have the same exact ingredients, there is definitely a difference... It's like buying an expensive brand water vs filtered well water. They are both H2O, they have different additives and are processed differently hence the different taste. Oxycodone is a man made narcotic made by multiple labs using different techniques, of course the chemical structures will be similar but there are imperfections in everything

If you clearly state that BOTH Roxicet & Percocet are the name brands & BOTH contain Tylenol & Acetaminophen...then just give us the generic names for them. Why would you say the exact opposite in your next sentence about these NOT having Tylenol in them? I thought you were a doctor of a pharmacy & you contradict yourself in the very first statement. Then to make matters worse you go off on an RN for not getting her facts straight.....I'd expect more from a Dr....then again these days, not really. The facts is all people are looking for & so far no one has come up with any straight answer.

I never heard of roxicet or roxicodone. this is all new to me until I heard it on T.V. I'm really surprised that any of my doctor's never wrote a script for this prescription for me. And if it's supposed to be the same as Percocet then why isn't giving people the same relief! I just don't get it sometimes.
