Hi all, I'm a new person to the forums. I have always been a casual runner for many years. I wanted to ask a question about slow running. I searched around on Google and found no answer. Hopefully you folks might be able to help. I'm wondering if running slow can cause pain? I have found that when I run, slow -- around 4 to 5mph -- my knees start to hurt and my calves might even start to cramp up. It feels like I am just "plodding" along. But if I pick up the pace to maybe 7.5 mph, double my turnover rate, I feel great. My form just feels better. However, I'm unable to keep up that pace for a long distance. Do you folks know if running slow might cause pain? Possibly due to poor form? Or the inability to hold a good form while running slow? I'd love to be able to go for a really long slow run, but I'm very afraid of killing my knees. Thanks!
