How did your pillow work? I just tried to go to that website, and it's no longer active. I would love to try to find this option if you recommend it. Thanks.

Maybe a solution! This sounds like what I've suffered with for decades. I would wake up during the night , or most likely in the morning and find that I've been sleeping on my ear and the pain is awful! The usual pain killers (aspirin, Tylenol, etc.) did nothing. Ear drops, warm/cold compresses... no good either. To me, it would feel like if I could pop my jaw, or move my ear around somehow, that would do the trick. Nope.
Then, one day, quite by accident; after waking up with an especially horrible pain, I asked my best friend to drive me to the drug store to try and find something to help. The pain was so bad that I found myself pressing my head VERY HARD against the headrest in the car and rolling my head side to side. I could feel this was tensing the muscles in my neck and thought that, even though it felt good at the time, the stress would only make my ear pain worse... WRONG!!!!! In a few minutes the pain was nearly gone! Since then, if I wake up with this ear pain, I simply press the back of my head hard into the pillow (make sure you don't press your sore ear against it or it will really hurt) and slowly roll your head side to side for about a minute. Rest a minute and repeat. This seems to do the trick EVERY TIME! I hope it works for y'all. Sincerely, ggskip.

I'm so glad to read other people with this problem, I've been thinking about going to the doctors but think they will think I'm mad!! I have had it in both ears for a good couple of years, I wake up to aching on the outside of the ear and dread taking my ear off the pillow as I know what severe pain is to come, it is truly excruciating, gonna take everyone's advice and try different pillows, thanx

I keep reading the same things guys but I still don't understand WHY this is happening ?? What is it?? Because I dnt believe in "the pillow fact" I've been having the same pillow for a year and sleep every night on the same side and I dnt have the pain every nights.. If my pillow was the problem then I would be in pain every night..does it make sens.. I've got horrible pain in both ears very irregularly. Some times it's 2,3 nights consecutive, sometime only once a week sometime only twice a month... So it doesn't make sens.. And over the years yes I've tried changing pillows and always get the "apparently best ones" but still had the pain over the years. Im sure it's not just normal.. and It's so frustrating that no doctors has got an answer

I have had outer ear pain while lying on a pillow for years. Both sides. I bought a foam rubber pillow and cut a hole 7 or 8 inches in diameter all the way through it. Then, when laying down the side of my head, I make
sure my ear is placed over the hold. No more pain as long as i do that m

I had this problem with my left ear only ?. So after looking at pillows with holes in them for £40, i used one of my own, and sewed together the area where my ear rested. I used dental floss, which is far stronger than cotton. After 10 minutes it was done, so now i can sleep without any pain.

Your pillows are too firm. Use soft pillows and your issues will disappear.

Buy a soft pillow from Target. Do not get medium soft. Do not get a fancy pillow. You need soft pillows. It's not complicated. Ear pain will occur on and off due to physical pressure on the ear.

A donut is a great idea, thanks. I also wonder if night sweats and hot flashes have any affects? Could it be menapause/andropause is part of this equation?

I had the same ear problem for years until I started sleeping on my side with my hand under my cheek to protect my ear. I no longer get the ear pain. I have often thought that an 8" square piece of 1 or 1 1/2 " thick foam with a hole cut out for your ear, to use with your pillow, would probably work as well.

I have this and have been diagnosed with Ehlers Danlos hypermobility type. It's a connective tissue disorder. Fibromyalgia goes along with it. It's considered rare but I don't think it's that rare. Just underdiagnosed. Check out the symptoms. It's been a rough time for me and my joints. :(
