They are writing about a surgical procedure to deflate or remove the cyst. A swollen gland does not prohibit sex. The problem, as I understand is the aftermath. I had a bilateral marsupialization 4.5 weeks ago and still have stitches. I am nervous about sex because I had read a bit about the possibility of pain. I have a follow up in a week and plan to try with my partner. Will let you know how it goes.

Hi,
I was 20 when I first got my bartholin gland cyst. I cannot tell you how many times I have had to have it drained. I have been to the urgent care, and my medical doctors so much I don't even cringe at a scalpel or needle. Once they cut it open and drain it, that instant relief you feel is worth it! In 2012 I went in for marsupialization surgery and that was pretty painful for a week or two after. About a month down the road from the surgery I had a repeat abscess to which I went into my doctor, and he said there's nothing he can do that I will have to get the gland removed eventually. I guess due to my age he didn't want me to remove it for a while. It did get better after the marsupialization I had very few episodes, and when they did reoccur they would pop on their own and go right away. A few years later I'm now 27 and the hole has healed up, and now I get them pretty often and again have to get them drained regularly. At this point having the area drained so much I can barely have sex without terrible pain, there is no enjoyment! I am pregnant now, sex is so painful but my doctor says the gland can be removed during labor and that it's quite an easy procedure. I'm hoping this is true and that my sex life will go back to normal. We would really like to try for another kid. Fingers crossed!

Hi

I have had this cyst come back 3 times the 1st I had the Marsupalization in 2014 and had pain for about 8 weeks, but after the precede I thought finally I'm back to normal. But in 2016 it returned and had started experiencing pain during intercourse, aswell as the fact I can bare a man going near me or touching me there (not because it's painful) but because I'm embarrassed it's mortifing it sees to always come back when I'm dating and then I end up not sleeping with them because of it and going our separate ways. But anyway that one I had the word catheter put in the recovery took weeks, at this point I obviously wasn't in a relationship or anything do it didn't bother me. But now in 2017 it's back again I gave just started dating at his amazing guy and I haven't been able to sleep with him, now I'm having the procedure done in a couple of days, I'm going for the word catheter again because I really don't want to have to wait so long to be with this guy, it's been so long since I've been able to settle with anyone. Gyne want to do the gland removal, but he's told me if I want it removed that day I could go for the word catheter, I'm don't do desperate to feel like a woman I hate this so much, I'm 35 and would like another child at some point. How long after your Marsupalizationdid things resume to normal for you? If I decide to wait for Marsupalization I could be waiting weeks or months for the op. My cyst Is quite large sorry for the tmi but they always are. Please any advice you or anyone could give me I feel do depressed about it all I have no idea which procedure is best be sure neither have worked. And I hear the gland removal is so painful and sex aswell, andike many have said here I too I'm usually dry and apparently this is what is causing the cysts so doctors have informed me.

Hello, I had every procedure that comes with bartholin cyst. Marsupalization complete waste of money. I had to go back a few weeks later and have the very risky surgery of removing the entire gland. Surgery went well but when I got home I guess a stitch broke or something and I started to lose an extreme amount of blood. Had emergency surgery, ended up in ICU but I am glad it's over. I do have some discomfort with sex but nothing unbearable. This was 2 years ago. I hope all goes well for you.

This was my experience exactly. I had a removal on the left and marsupialization of the right. I am so happy my doctor informed me about and I knew exactly what to expect with the removal. The doctor I had for the marsupialization was afraid of doing a removal and my only option was basically a marsupialization. That or suffering through another cyst. Marsupialization has been kind of ongoing trouble for me. I'm coming to terms with it, but think I ultimately will have to have the gland removed in order for it to stop flaring up. I will try my best to have my first doctor do the removal when it becomes necessary.

That's good news. I've had the surgery about two years ago and it's still very painful to have sex. I feel stinging and dry and also numb. Which is funny because there is a lot of pain. I haven't been in a relationship since because I'm embarrassed. I don't know how to talk about it or explain what happened. I feel gross. But I wonder too, what is the guy feeling when having sex with me? Does it hurt him, does I feel dry to him or too tight? Have you ever asked your boyfriend how he feels? I would like to know if you don't mind sharing.

I had this surgery sixteen years ago. I was fine after it healed for a few years. NOW it’s excruciating with sexual intercourse. It has just about ruined my marriage and my self esteem. I wish you well.
