I was holding my baby in my arms when I went to sit down his head shook slightly side to side. I am a worry wart sometimes. Was wondering if it was enough force for him to have sbs. He eating fine, alert and everything. I am just worried.

Hello,

How old is your baby? Is he (or she) your first child? Chances are that this was not the situation that would lead to shaken baby syndrome - think of the all the situations people play with babies - like bouncing the baby on the knees - and of course, it has no consequences. The younger the child is, the greater the need for making sure head doesn't move too rapidly, but unless the movement was far too rapid and forceful, chances are that you sitting down with baby in your hands couldn’t cause anything like shaken baby syndrome. I can’t blame you for worrying, though – how could you not when the baby is completely dependent on you. But, like I said, I don’t think there is a reason for you to worry based on what you described,

Wish you all the best,

Nicole
