My period started Feb. 11th lasted about 7 days, which is normal for me, with the brown discharge occurring towards the end. The problem is that I had brown discharge with sometimes mucus and pinkish blood for about 9 days after my period ended. I also had a very little piece of uterine lining about 2 days ago. and today March 2ndi had a sharp pain in my left ovary What is going on? My doctor told me to wait it out, meaning the brown dicharge part. Which is fine because that subsided. I had a Pap Spear performed in September and everything is okay. I am 39 yrs. old with three children.. First time this has ever happened to me. EVER.

What was this pain like? Was it just like a stabbing pain that you just felt and it was over or was it persistent pain?

Have you experienced any of these problems before? It often happens to women to go through such phases in their periods, and never to know what it was.

You may think of it as a problem, when it happens 3 times in a row. It is not uncommon for women to experience brown spotting after their periods. It may be just old blood.

Do you have any other symptoms like pressure in the lower abdomen, pain with the arrival of your periods in the ovary section, urinary problems, or pain during intercourses? I have problems with ovarian cysts and I experience these problems from time to time. Ovarian cysts are also known to interfere with menstrual cycles.

What kind of contraception do you use? Birth control pills often interfere with menstrual cycles as well.
Although it may sound too soon but your hormonal levels could be fluctuating as you are approaching to perimenopause.

I could go on like this guessing what it could be, but you won’t know until you see a doc and have hormones checked, uterus for growths, ovaries for cysts, etc…

You could wait another menstrual cycle though and see what happens. If the problems persists, you could see a doc then.
