I would appreciate if you can share your experience or someone you know, advice or comment.
Following FNA and other scans, I got the cytophathology results, just before Christmas 2009. The diagnosis was papillary carcinoma (T2N2MX) on the right hand side of my thyroid. Family shock, holiday cancelation, fear, organizing treatments and my work cover during the festive season replaced usual Christmas atmosphere. In mid January 2010, I was operated and my thyroid has been removed, which was followed up with ablation (I121) in early March 2010. The PAT/CT scan from February 2010 did not show any evidence of spread to other organs.
Now I am experiencing side effect of the treatments:
Fatigue, tiredness, loss of weight
I feel extremely tired, with difficulties to sleep through the night. Usually I fall asleep easily but I wake up in the middle of the night having difficulties to go back to sleep which adds to fatigue the following day. I have lost about 5 kilos (10 pounds) coming to my ideal weight, but bit too quick.
Pains and aches
I have pains and aches in my right leg from the heel to the upper back, similar to sciatica. I also experience pain on the right hand side of my rib cage and upper back. Last few days I had to take regular paracetamols to control the pain.
As I am 41 years old with absolutely clean medical recorded before this diagnosis, I do not have any experience with this kind of sickness and would appreciate your help and support.
Do you or someone you know someone with similar side effects and symptoms?
What did you do about them and have you/your doctor found possible causes (hormone levels, cancer spread, and other causes)?
What did you do about it? How did you recover and for how long?
Your reply will be VERY much appreciated
