I'm 14 and have been suffering from bacterial viagnosis for 4 weeks now!!!! My left labia is extremely swollen and is causing me quite a lot of discomfort but nout unbearable. So anyway the infection came along because I didnt change my pad for 9 hours!!! (much regretted) after a week of suffering I decided to go to the docters and she game me a pap smear ( my symptoms are extremely ad swelling in left labia monoria and slight discharge and smell) she told me it looked normal. That it was not!!! Tests came back and she said it shows I have an extremely bad case of bv. She game me 200g of metronidazole 3 times a day for a week. That didn't work so I went back and she gave me 400g of metronidazole 3 times a day for a week and that hasn't worked either. I still have discharg and bad swelling but the door has gone. So the question s why isnt it working? and what see can I do? Am I going to have to pu up with the discomfort for the rest of my life!!!! Please reply it's seriously making me depressed :(

My advice for you is to see a different doctor and get a second opinion. It is not good to be on antibiotics for an extended period of time because your body will not be able to buld an immunity against whatever bacteria may be affecting you. Also, the bacteria can mutate and become resistant against the antibiotic. Be careful when taking antibiotics for a long period of time.
