white discharges are normal, unless they cause itchiness, irritation, (or if they have a lumpy consistency or are strong smelling)
These are the symptoms of vaginitis, (which just meand inflamation of the vagina)

* irritation and/or itching of the genital area
* inflammation (irritation, redness, and swelling caused by the presence of extra immune cells) of the labia majora, labia minora, or perineal area
* vaginal discharge
* foul vaginal odor
* discomfort or burning when urinating
* pain/irritation with sexual intercourse

It's very common, and treatable.
The treatment depends on the cause though. The most common cause is thrush. that's a yeast infection which happens when the vagina flora of bacteria is disrupted, (like if you take antibiotics, or use fragranced soaps on it) and the yeast gets a foot hold and proliferates. In thrush the discharge is white or white grey and has a curd like appearance. You can get products like diflucan one and canestan over the counter. they have one pill which kills the yeast, and usually a cream to stop itchiness or burning. clears up quickly.
However, most women mistake thrush for another type of vaginitis, bacterial vaginitis, that is more common. and wont respond to anti fungals. It is also a result of unbalanced bacterial flora, resulting in an overgrowth of one type. The discharge in this instant is white, but may have a slightly (or strong) fishy smell.
Anti biotics is the cure for this, but again, you can just get over the counter products such as a 0.75% metronidazole vaginal gel or oral metronidazole treatment. (metronidazole is an antibiotic) other products include RePhresh, boric acid, or Lactobacillus Acidophilus capsules. If you go to the doctor they will be able to prescribe antibiotics as well, and you have the advantage of finding out if it's actually due to something else. vaginitis can also be from Trichomoniasis, which is caused by a protazoa (rather than fungus or bacteria - so a different treatment is needed)
The symptoms:
eg, could include a heavy, yellow-green or gray vaginal discharge, discomfort during intercourse, unpleasant vaginal odor (possibly fish-like), and painful urination. Irritation and itching of the female genital area, and on rare occasions, lower abdominal pain also can be present.
I mention this because it also is worse after urination, that you mention. but it is strictly a sexually transmitted condition, appearing 5 - 28 days after transmittion. it is quite common too. Metronidazole or tinidazole can treat it, but you'll need a prescription. sexual partner will need treating too. Other causes of vaginitis are Irritant vaginitis: can be caused by allergies to condoms, spermicides, soaps, perfumes, douches, lubricants and semen. It can also be caused by hot tubs, abrasion, tissue, tampons or topical medications.
Chlamydia and gonorrhea can also cause vaginitis symtoms.
So it would be worth seeing the doctor if you have no luck treating it your self. Hope it all goes well and (i haven't rambled too much...)
