My father is 67 and is suffering from spinal stenosis. He wants to know more about laser surgery as a cure for his condition. If anyone out there has had a laser surgery performed for spinal stenosis (lumbar) of the lower back please reply with your feedback. Was it successful...what were the side effects afterwards...would you reccomend having it done?

well, spinal stenosis basically is a condition where the one are of the spine, in your father's case, the lumbar area gets narrow and that narrowing then puts a lot of pressure on the spinal cord. That leads to a series of problems which can be very dangerous - from inability to have any sensation in the lower part of the body, to the point of losing functions like bladder and bowel control. So, definitely this condition is something that can't be left untreated. Did your father's doctor recommend any other kind of treatment before the surgery, like steroid therapy or anything? Spinal surgeries are usually performed when the person is in the good health otherwise - precisely in order to minimize the potential risks.
