I was involved in an automobile accident 8 years ago and was flown to a trauma center where they embolized my spleen. I was discharged 5 days later and after about 4 months no longer had any pain. Just in the last 2 months have I been expieriencing left shoulder and left upper abdomen pain. The pain is the same feeling I felt after my accident. It has been coming more often and lasting for longer intervals. My Dr. sent me for a CT scan and called to tell me the report claimed everything was "normal". My take on it is that I have not had pain in the last 8 years something has to have changed to start causing pain now. My question is what are some complications from this procedure that can show themselves years down the road?

Hi,
I'm not sure about can complication emerge after few years, but some side affects of embolization is the risk of emboli reaching healthy tissue.
My suggestion is that you go and check yourself again, just to be sure.
