Hi all,

I recently figured out that my husband has steatocystoma. He has been told by derms in the past that they are sweat glands or ingrown hairs but that never sat right with me. His case seems mild to me, he has less than 30 cysts total and most are on his chest and abdomen with a few scattered here and there on his back or forearms. His brother and father both have mild cases as well. They started in his late teens and he hasn't developed any new ones since his early 20s.

My questions relate to my kids. It's really hard to find information on this condition and it can be a little scary.

I understand that it is a dominant trait and that my kids have a 50% chance of inheriting it but when SM is passed down is its degree and variation inherited as well? Is it likely my kids' conditions will be as mild or even milder? Could they be worse?

Thanks in advance.
