I've just started taking a WellWoman multivitamin. I'm desperate to improve my immune system after repeated bouts of tonsillitis and other nasties. . . I do eat a balanced diet, but I thought I could do with a boost. Seems not. Second time I took pill with a main meal, I had the most horrendous indigestion... Not had that for years. I took another yesterday and it will be my last. Pain much lower down in the middle of my stomach. Lasted all evening and all night. I actually woke in the middle of the night and the pain as so bad I was crying. . . feel like I've been punched in he stomach today. Annoying as the multivitamins were not cheap. . . Any advice on what I could take that won't have this affect but will help to boost my immunity. . . I already take Vitamin D as am deficient. Slowly improving. Taking recommended dose of that each day and no side effects at all. Thanks!

Intake of Too Much Vitamins – There are instances when people feel that taking in a lot of vitamins will be good for their health. This is not the case at all. In fact, people are recommended to take in just enough vitamins to supply their daily needs. People who take too much vitamins can experience some discomfort for a few days even after taking the vitamins has already been stopped

Awesome to find these posts, and that I'm not the only one experiencing this. I've taken Men's Once A Day about a dozen times over the past year, and every time, I get a burning stomach ache for a good hour afterward. Definitely not fun. I doubt they're healthy for me as a result, and even if they were, they aren't worth a bad stomach ache. They just went in the garbage. I'm starting to wonder if vitamins aren't just a product of an industry of pseudoscience.

The cure for this stomach pain after taking multivitamins is to take a multivitamin or a B complex which has no iron in it . Now, I am taking Nature Made, B complex tablet after a meal and so far I am alright. Avoid iron content in a vitamin tablet. Hope this helps.

The credit goes to my sister-in-law, who is a Doctor, advised me to take a vitamin B complex tablet which has NO IRON in it. This is such a relief for me. Got rid of the stomach pain after taking a multivitamin.

I agree about Centrum vitamins. I ate oatmeal, egg white and after I took my vitamin and immediately my stomach start hurting like a ache feeling. Last all day.

Have been taking Centrum MultiGummies for a couple of weeks now and have stomach cramping and diarrhea. Called Pfizer and reported side effects and they stated this is unusual. This is a new product and perhaps it needs investigating. The cramping comes about 30 minutes after taking the vitamin. After reading these posts, now I realize I am not alone! Buyer beware! I will stop using this product and try to get my vitamins thru food sources which is the best way.

Wow, my son is getting the same pains, middle of the night. I had him discontinued the Mens Centrum multivitamin about 3 weeks ago, his last attack was 2 1/2 weeks ago. All this began after taking these vitamins, about 8 months ago. So if the pain happens again, I will take him in for additional testing. If not, I guess the multivitamin was the cause.

Stop taking anything that causes pain. Find another formula.

I think it really matters how fresh the B vitamin source is. Vitamin B that has been sitting around for a few months can cause terrible stomach pains. When I got my B vitamin from fresh yeast flakes (bought a huge canister at Whole Foods, the good kind), it was fine. Then after a few months, the yeast flakes began causing a bit of stomach ache (I sprinkle a few tablespoons on popcorn to give a cheesy flavor); a few months after that, they definitely caused stomach aches. And then more months later, they caused the same pain as those one-a-day multivitamins that I had avoided taking from the stomach pains they caused. (Trashed the rest of that giant container after that.) It may be that the multivitamins have just been sitting around too long in a warehouse, or the Vitamin B source they use was switched to some cheap, months-old source from some shady warehouse in India or China mixed in with their good sources. In either case, I think it's much safer buying the Vitamins separately and just taking them individually; that way, you know what exactly causes any pain.

I started taking the one a day for women 50+ and it gave me such bad pains I stopped using them. I thought I'd give it a try again after a number of months. First time trying it, it hurt my stomach again but not as bad because I made sure I had food with it. So I thought ok not too bad and tried it again with a slightly larger meal to see if that would help. Nope, pain was just as bad. I have plenty of fluids with it too. I've tried eating in the middle and eating after and it doesn't seem to make a difference. I thought maybe it was hurting because I had my gallbladder out two and a half years ago. I didn't have this problem with prenatal vitamins but I also had my gallbladder at the time I was taking those.

I can definitely vouch for pain after taking Centrum multivitamin tablet. I guess I always had some sort of discomfort after taking them (after lunch). But I never attributed it to them until i started noticing it in the last few weeks. I know that taking some vitamins has really helped me in the past, like Vit D + Calcium, where in I could see noticeable difference. But not sure if multivitamins really work. Stopping them now....

Well they must be dissolving because all of these people - including myself - wouldn't be having these stomach issues if they weren't.

I'm currently having the same type issues after having taken One-a-days for four days. Constipation, bloating feeling, cramping/spasms just under my sternum. I quit taking them 4 days ago and am still having gastric distress. At first I thought it to be a hiaetal hernia I have and although it may have some part in the issue, I think it was the vitamins that triggered the problem. Even with the hernia, I've never had these issues prior to this as I am careful with my diet. I'm hoping these issues resolve themselves sooner than later as it is very hard to rest feeling like this.
