Hi

Vitamins ADEK are fat soluble vitamins, while all the rest of the vitamins in the tablet are water soluble. So this means that you have to eat foods that have fat in them to help digest ADEK, while all the others dissolve in water.

If you are eating it on an empty stomach then this could contribute to the stomach pain you are encountering. Try eating foods a little high in good fats such as foods cooked in olive oils, avacados, various fish such as Salmon, Mackrel, nuts, eggs etc... When you do eat, be sure to wait a few mintues to let foods digest, get the gastric juices flowing for about 10 minutes, then have the multivitamin about 1/2 way into the meal. Ideally, don't drink ice cold water as this may delay gastric time...makes the stomach cold, and less activity will discourage gastric juices to help digest.

Hope this helps, and don't be discouraged from taking multivitamins...just encourage yourself to do it the right way!

Same thing here, only it took me 4 years to figure out. I had this really severe pain which felt like it is in my gallbladder. The GI doctor did all kinds of tests, they were sure I had gaul stones, and found nothing. Lately I accidentally noticed that this pain may be caused by multivitamins. Looks like it is, I have been taking them for many years now, but when I stop the pain goes away. I still don't know WHAT exactly hurts, the gallbladder is still the prime suspect, but don't know the cause.

Hi, I have recently switched to one a day multivitamin for men, and have been getting the same kind of pain you mentioned after taking it. It was very disturbing and I searched the internet and ran into many other people who had the same problem with one a day for men. I don't know what can be done about this. I want to report this to the FDA and I encourage you to pursue this!

I get the same pain no matter what I eat, not matter when I take it, and I have tried several brands (prenatal, centrum, the store brand, even a brand given to me by my chiropractor.)

I thought I was the only one who would get these terrible stomach aches after taking my Centrum Silver without Iron, I tried taking it with my meal, after my meal and before my meal and my stomach hurts a few minutes after I take it, so I stopped and feel much better without the horrible bloating and pain, I found Alive multivitamins on Amazon, they are more powerful than Centrum and you can take them on an empty stomach or any way you like, you will never feel pain, I will not buy Centrum again.

I have the same issues, though my pains only last 15-30mins immediately after taking the pill. Its strange because I've never had any issues with similar sized/textured pills I've taken in the past.

My solutions I've come up with so far:
1.) I crush up the pill with a spoon until it's a fine powder, I then rap that in a small slice of cheese (so it doesn't taste awful) and just swallow it.

2.) Alternatively, I'll remain standing after taking the pill for about 15 to 20 mins.

Hello,

Got the same stomach pains and nausea when I took the Wellman Vitamins for men. I think its not good. Maybe its an allergy to the ginseng which is not present in other brands...

I just had a terrible problem with the One a Day for Adult Men. Someone said it could be a reaction to the acid in your stomach. I took a Tums Tablet and it was eased the pain... feels better for sure!

Hope it works for others too

Take Care

I have had the same problem but not necessarily with a vitamin (but sometimes it was).  If I take a pill and lay down at night to go to sleep is when it happened.  I asked my Doctor about it and he said that I must drink a full glass of water with my meds or it will not go all the way to the stomach and just sit at my sphincter flap which doesn't always work properly anyway since I have reflux. Sitting there just lets the medicine erode on you flap causing pain.  I don't have a gallbladder anymore but it does simulate the pain that I felt when I had trouble with it. Never have any trouble with it anymore as long as I drink that water.

I just started getting stomach pains with Centrium Energy and before I never got them. I think I've been taking them for over 10 years and this is the first time. But after about 30 minutes upon taking them, it completely dissipates and goes away. Is this just because I am not eating enough before taking them or perhaps because they changed their formula? I know women especially have to eat something substantial before they take vitamins but usually guys don't have the same  issues, or so I thought.

It's a problem of having concentrated minerals connecting with the stomach wall.  If you take Centrum with a meal, as directed, you also need to take more water to dilute the multivitamin.  I'd say to drink a glass (16 oz) of water with your food + centrum.  After that, put up your plate and refill the glass (16 oz).  There is no way that Centrum is a poor-quality suppliment.  It's also doubtful that your SO is allergic to basic nutrients.
