I had the fundoplication in 2007 after years of horrible reflux. I had to change my diet drastically and adjust myself to what I can and cannot eat! I did notice that cutting out leafy green salads, that I ate everyday stopped the bloating. I also don't drink anything but water, and lots of it! I do have one cup of coffee a day. I cut out dairy, which helped a lot with diarrhea, and bloating . I also stopped eating raw Almonds, that I noticed gave me the runs everyday. I cut out gluten, two years ago and I don't eat any red meat. I know this diet isn't for everyone, but I feel so much better doing this! I take multivitamin everyday and I make sure I eat three meals a day. Fish, chicken is my protein, I eat brown rice, and make sure I have vegetables, but try to stay away from broccoli which causes gas, and I do not eat any raw vegetables, since they will cause stomach pains, and they are hard to digest. The only raw I eat is tomato and avocado. The good fat! Do not eat cauliflower at all. It's the hardest vegetable to digest. Stay hydrated, because if you don't you could develop kidney stones, which I have had multiple of. That is the one complaint I have had. It's all about trial and error of what triggers the diarrhea and the pain. I use to hate going out to eat, but I have figured out what to order when I go out to help with my stomach issues. Also I don't drink alcohol at all! Definite trigger of reflux!! The only complaint now, is if I don't eat my meals, or skip eating at least a gluten free bar, which Luna Bars are great, I find myself getting nauseous, then I don't feel like eating and feel sick. Good luck to those who have had this operation. It did help with reflux, and yes I still have gas, but my food stays down!

I am sorry you are going through this. I hope since you posted this things have turned around for the better! I am considering the surgery because I myself am feeling very challenged at times with acid reflux and diet. I miss just being able to have whatever I wanted while I’m out doing errands or a day out. I have to plan if I do this and at times it can be tiring so I just stay in. However, at times I still get out and have fun because we need an outlet especially with these conditions… even if it’s just for a little while.. even if it means we have to pack a lunch or order a salad.. I hope everyone here is doing much better and have overcome this. Wishing you all love and light ! Healing !
