So frustrating! I’ve been on Cilest since 19 - I’m now 32. I came off it at Christmas and have gained 8/10 pounds, I look pregnant at night when I’m most bloated! Ive has my thyroid tested and all fine. I’ve always been fit and worked out and never struggled maintaining a good healthy weight... my stomach has always been flat and have a good, stable diet. Now I just look fat and bloated and I’m distraught about it... but I want a baby so nothing I can do about it

I have been saying this for about 2 years now! I stopped taking the same pills and wondering why I have put on so much weight. I know it’s my hormones without even going to the dr. I feel your pain, I have never been overweight and it is depressing. I tried the Nuva ring which I loved but I hate the idea of having to dig for it each month. You are not alone. I’m considering taking the pills again because I’m always bloated and the weight will not stop. Sorry about your pregnancy.. hope everything works out for you and your husband.

I've been on birth control since I was a teenager. I started Seasonique about 9 years ago and I LOVE IT. I haven't had a period since I started using it. I literally haven't bought tampons or pads in 8 years. My periods were terrible before and now that I have non, it's tough to give up I've considered getting off of the pill and hoping I'd lose a few pounds. Now I'm scared to death I'll gain weight. Yikes. Reading everyone's stories is enlightening and horrifying at the same time.
Thanks to all of the ladies on here sharing.
I'm still on the fence.....

I’m having the same issue after stopping my birth control (as well as hair loss) about 3 months ago. This has happened before after 3 months of being off of the pill and I went back on, and sure enough the weight fell off. I exercise several times a week, run, hike, cross train and still feel like I’m fighting to lose the extra weight I gained. Would love to hear if this was a temporary symptom for you.

Oh this gives me hope. I'm 40 and stopped birth control pills over 2 years ago...since then I've gained 33 pounds. (My husband even had a vasectomy.) Now I'm going to go back on the pill to get my health back on track. Before I stopped the pill i felt young, energetic and in shape. Now off the pill 2 years later, I'm overweight, achy joints, and I feel like I've aged 10-15 years overnight. It's sad and I miss the old me. I don't recognize myself in pictures anymore. I'll post an update in a few months. Going to try Aviane because Ortho-tri-cyclen Lo has been discontinued.

Okay so this is a follow-up from the above post....I stopped birth control pills over 2 years ago and gained 33 pounds. So finally I had enough of the weight gain and how I was feeling so old, bloated, achy and puffy...
3 days ago I started back on birth control pills, Aviane and I've already lost 4 pounds in the first 3 days. I already feel a lot better and in the first 3 days back on the pill. :)

I'll post another follow-up in a few weeks to give an update. Just wanted to give others hope if you're teetering on going back on the pill.

Response to follow-up..... "40 years old and just started Aviane a few weeks ago."
So I just completed my first pack of pills of Aviane. The first 3 days I lost a few pounds and then it just stayed there. I'm thinking those pounds were probably from the result of just coming back from a trip and not even related to started this pill. My weight continued to stay at that same weight the next 3 weeks...other symptoms included: extreme breast tenderness, absolutely zero libido so much to the point I was annoyed when my husband was just trying to give me a kiss during the day and I just didn't want to be touched (I'm not usually like this because I love snuggling with my husband), first week headaches with mood swings and anxiety, 2nd week spotting for most of the week, and a constant feeling like my stomach was bloated along with tenderness. Another side effect was extreme vaginal dryness and it made intercourse painful. (Off the pill that is never a problem.) I'm not quite sure but my hair is feeling a little thinner and I usually have a lot of hair. Also my bowels slowed way down to the point of feeling almost constipated and hard to move my bowels. I don't think I'm going to stay on this pill. In fact, I'm done with birth control pills because this was suppose to be the best reviewed one on the market since Ortho-Tri-Cyclen-Lo has been discontinued and my body is really sensitive to these things. So frustrated...I'm too old for this sh*t. lol Good luck everyone! I'm going to look into other options.

I started on b/c when I was 25 because I had really bad acne. (Ortho-tri cyclen. I gained maybe 5lbs give or take for the first few months and then probably 1-2 additional lbs every month for the last year. I am now 26 (turning 27 in a few months) and have stopped taking birth control for the last month. I weighed about 115-116 before starting and I'm not 130. I feel so fat and unattractive. Fortunately the acne hasn't really returned with the same force that it was before but I don't know what to do with the weight. You would think after a month I would've lost something but I hover between gaining even more and having to work hard to even stay at 130. This is awful but it does help to know I'm not alone. We'll see how the next few months treat me. Maybe my body just needs time to normalize but for now. I feel so gross.
