I have been on Suboxone for several years and have recently been tapering off and experience the same as you; at first we thought it was because of a heart problem but as soon as I started taking more suboxone my breathing has been restored. I am not sure about the L-Theanine but that sounds good! Thanks for you comment.

Sounds like anxiety.... I've struggled with the same exact issue on suboxone and especially subutex, for some reason. Anyway anxiety can come and go randomly, without any specific triggers. Shortness of breath and chest pain are major side effect of anxiety. I know it's hard but try to distract yourself. As you take deep breathes, the body takes in too much oxygen and your healthy co2 level gets messed up, Called hyperventilating. You start taking in deeper breathes trying to cope, and you start thinking about every breath, which makes it worse. Distract yourself with a walk, game, tv, etc... Allow your body and your subconscious to take back control of your breathing. Jogging is a good, gets your heart rate up and almost forces your body to take control.

I started Suboxone in Sept 2014. I had been on Oxycodone for 5 years due to two back surgeries and the last two years I was in bed almost all the time. I finally quit and went on Suboxone and at first I felt better and very active but then I was doing a minor activity and got short of air. I couldn't catch my breath and I was beginning to panic. I got through it but ever since I have been short of breath. I am praying it is the drug. I also have anxiety, short term memory issues too.

I was on suboxone for 3 years and started experiencing breathing problems about a 1 and a half on it which got worse over time! so I decided to stop taking it! I have been off suboxone for 3 years and I still struggle with fatigue, confusion, blood pressure from extreme lows to highs, and horrible breathing problems! It's almost as if I have to make myself breathe! I have been tested for everything and it all comes back normal we tried every type of antidressant SSRI's, benzo's and combination for anxiety and panic but we have came to the conclusion that I am pseudo resistant caused from suboxone! I remain clean from all drugs going on 5 years and remain suboxone free going on 3 years! I have found out that suboxone was never meant for long term use and was only meant to be used to alleviate and get you through your withdrawals! Naloxone is a drug used to stop overdose and stop drugs from attaching to the receptors and buprophine is a mild opiod so they are giving to opposing medicines! I was initially only suppose to be on it for a short time but my sub doc wanted to keep me on it! I truly believe most sub docs are out for the money involved and not our recovery and health! You will see most sub docs are going to cash only now instead of insurance! This was not meant to scare you but to help you and inform you of my situation! I will continue to remain strong on staying sober but will have to keep learning to cope with the effects that came along with long term suboxone use! There is not enough studies and reports for this medicine as it's been Farley new! So speak out so we can obtain more studies and information!

Yes! I've been on Subutex for a couple months and all of a sudden one day I was very short of breath. I will catch myself trying to breath deeper and deeper. I also have chest pain. I was on Zubsolve before the Subutex and never had any issues.

Iv been on subox. For a year now. And have the same problem. Iv talked to my Dr an many others who have had the same. It's a bad side affect that ppl can get. My Dr says usually it happens when they're is some other underline issue rather it being azma or sleep acmnea. This medicine can lower heart rates and cause breathing issues. What you need to do is have your Dr switch you to subtext. That's what helped everyone else. And that's what I started on when I was pregnant. And I had no issues with breathing. Then after I had my son they switched me to suboxne. I'm I'm the process of having test done so I can be switched back to the subtext. It annoys me iv seen a bunch of other pages talking about this issues and everyone wants to blame it on panic attacks or coming down. There's a huge difference between a panic attack and this shortness of breath. You're heart beats faster with the panic attack yes also have shortness of breath but feels like something on your chest when it's panic attack. This is different. It's just like you can't ever get enough air. No other problems. Though when you're on this meds you shouldn't be taking benzos or any kind kalonapin any of those things. Can't remember if it was this post or another I seen them say they where taking that to. I would sew that Dr. If they prescribed those two things together that's crazy. I'm also kinda mad at the drs and who ever made this suboxne but don't bother warning ppl on how common it actually is that it messes with ppls breathing. I go to a wonderful clinic. Had very high success rates of ppl getting and staying clean. But almost half that go there said they had the same issue at one time. It's wild.
