I have been on pain pills for a year, then i decided it was time to get my life together and get off the stuff, but unlike some people, my withdrawls were the worst form. My friend found me some suboxone and i weened my self off. I used literally about 3 8MG pills to ween off, breaking them into very small pieces. The first couple days i had some form of withdrawls, but very mild and manageable. I continued that for about 2 weeks and when i ran out of the suboxone, i convinced myself not to get more. I had 3 day of withdrawl from there on in. It was pretty bad, no sleep, sweats, hot/cold/hot/cold, sore, aches, tired, fatigued. After those three days it was just the sweats and no sleep. I've learned from everything ive read and everyone ive talked to and my own experience that sleep will not come easy during withdrawls. Its a tough pill to swallow (no pun intended), but u have to pay for your doings in my case, and those who were on for actual pain, i am sorry, but i guess u must pay for your luxury too.

I love sleep incredibly, so it was almost unbareable. I got back on pain meds for a few more comfortable nights sleep to prepare myself. I took them for another 2-3 months (pain meds) I went back on suboxone for the same time, less severe withdrawls. I have no sleep now, but i get enough to get me through the day until I go to sleep early the next night. I toss and turn all night. I take melatonin just so i can get to sleep, and then i stay asleep for about 4 hours. From there, i toss and turn until the morning and wake up feeling somewhat miserable about the day.

From what i hear, it will be like this for a year or so until you can return back to your normal sleeping cycle and you actually wake up feeling refreshed. And thats if it was like that before the pills. if u always had a form of insomnia or bad sleep, u will probably never have good sleep without help, so face the music, or deal with the idea that u need help to sleep.

hope i didnt talk too much in circles and was thorough enough for you to understand my situation and apply it to your own past/present/future experiences

Wow after reading everyone's postings, I realize how screwed I am! I was taking 40+ mg's of methadone a day for many years. WHen I finally heard about suboxone and switched over, I had violent withdrawals my first couple days. I almost ended up in the hospital (only stayed off methadone 3 days before switching). At first I thought suboxone was great. But I had to go all the way up to 32 mgs to feel right. I've been on it 3 months and have only came down 4 mg's a day. Everytime I try to come down another 2 mg's, I get extremely depressed and cannot sleep. (From what my dr. says and what I read, the last 2 mg's is the worst; this should be cake!) I own my own business so laying in bed and crying isn't an option. I can see this is going to be just as difficult as methadone. The only thing i can say is better that I'm going to a real doctor and getting a real prescription and don't have to worry about scoring. I guess if I come down 2 mgs. a month - I'll still be doing better than I was with methadone! Funny thing is; legal suboxone is just as expensive as buying methadone off the street! If I get some extra money, I am buying stock in the manufacturer (Reckitt Benckiser). They are going to be racking in the money just like the manafacturer of OCs.

Today was my third day on suboxone. Personally I did this to find out my if I have severe pain or withdrawal. I took my last one at noon and my body aches, neck pain and I have spasms. Has anyone got of this due to pain? Is suboxone a SCAM also because I spent some major $$$ today!

man! all these ppl are insane. im not denying that they believe its worse than heroin, but its all in their damn head. ive kicked heroin and ive weaned off of suboxone and suboxone is MUCH easier. i think the reason these ppl are saying its worse is because they are CURRENTLY detoxing off suboxone and they are simply forgetting how much worse the full opiod agonists were. as addicts, we easily forget our painful past experiences, or at least minimze them as coping methods. if u ween yourself down to one half of a milligram every other day slowly, its tolerable to abruptly stop! give urself about one week for each reduction. like so...4mgs a day for 1 wk, then go t 2 mg a day for 1 wk, then go to 1mg a day for 1 wk, then go to 1/2 mg a day for a week, then go to 1/2 mg a day every other day for 2 weeks, then ONLY DO IT WHEN THE WITHDRAWAL IS INTOLERABLE!!! its a damn scientific FACT that weening like this allows your body to start producing its own natural seratonin and gives ur brain time to adjust. these ppl are either 1)abruptly stopping when they are using over 1 mg a day, or 2) simply exagerating their experience because the minimal effects they feel are unpleasant, and they want to express just how bad they feel by exaggeration, even though if they were kicking a heroin habit, it would be farrrr worse. everybody is different, but for me , a former heroin injector for 5 years, suboxones detox, done properly as i stated, is MUCH more tolerable than a full agonist. dont let these m****s discourage you from trying to ween off suboxone. its just gonna take somew time. remember, give urself a week b4 cutting your dose in half to give your body some time to adjust. and MOST IMPORTANTLY, be on a dose of LESS than a milligram a day for 2 weeks before trying to stop completely.

I have now tried to stop using suboxone for 6 days. When the dr put me on it to take me off methadone she said it wasnt additive> BS!! I was told though that the withdrawals only last about 10 days?? I have tried coming off before but after the 3rd day I gave up. I think since i'm on wellbutrin it takes the really bad withdrawal symptons away. Really all I/m havin it loose stools and the sweats so compared to the other withdrawals I had off methadone and the other time I tried to stop Suboxone this is nothing. So maybe if u get a script for some kind of nerve medicine it will help you. Don't get me wrong do not take valium or xanex thats what 5 of my friends died from! But if u take more than 1 a day now just wean yourself down to one a day for about a month before you try to quit!

I have been on suboxone for 2yrs, before that i was using for 9yrs. I'm only 27 and didnt want to spend the rest of my life a junkie. I had tried naltrexone rapid detox's twice and failed. Suboxone is good if you have a good doctor. I started off on 11mg a day and stayed on that for a yr and a half, have been going down 1mg every mths since. If you're ready to decrease dosage you don't get withdrawals. I think that you have to want to decrease, not what the doctor tells you to. This time next year i hope to be off it, 3yrs is long enough on a program that we don't yet know the side effects of.

Not true man, subs can be just as harsh as kickin H or dones, Ive been through both of em, right now I'm on day 15 of severe suboxone w/ds, they last longer cuz of the half-life of subs (37hrs). the w/ds might not be 'quite' as intense but really to me if feels exactly the same, and i remember H withdrawal like it was yesterday. just my opinion, just remember everyones different. Take a lot of vitamins potassium alevert immodium and if you can find or get prescribed xanax or clonidine (im on both right now and feel about 20% better). And although you really wont want to you should try to go for a walk every now and then, it speeds up the process.

Everyone's body is different and so are their brain chemicals. So stop bashing each other. You just have to find out the best way for you. I do not get withdrawals until after 8 days. I am having some shakiness and very very tired. I sleep all day but it is getting better. DO NOT STOP COLD TURKEY! I am on 15 days now and I took just a little piece so that I can get my son to school. Muscle relaxers do help for the shakiness and sleep also anxiety. Just do not be too anxious to get off of the subx so fast take very very very slow if you have to. My first withdrawals are sweats and uncontrollable sneezing. Good Luck.

It's true that everyone is different but I really just wish someone could answer me how many days you sweat during the detox period. I went from one mg every 36 hours to stopping. My doctor that had me on this maint. plan for the past 16 months and he felt like as long as I wasn't having cravings, I'd be fine on a small dose of suboxone for as long as I felt like i needed it. Well...............I went to my appointment and my doctor passed away over the holidays and his replacement wanted me to see his therapist before he'd give me my refill. I'm a young mother of a toddler and my original doc already sent me to therapy. what kind of replacement is going to sucker more money out of you when you're already in a vulnerable situation?? I told him to f*** off and cried all the way home. On my way out he bent over and said "I hope you don't go back to using", yeah buddy thank you SO MUCH for your help and advice. I refuse to use again because my son needs a mother, not a junkie, I'm having weak moments and pray every night before I go to bed that the sweating will stop when I wake up. I can handle the rest, but I can't walk around in public or even pretend to be normal sweating profusely. So my questions are does anyone know how long my body will sweat? Also I have a surgery sched. in 2 months and I'm terrified this process will start all over when my body gets a taste of opioids again. I will never abuse ANYTHING again, not worth it. Stay positive I know these days will look like a blur later in life when I get to actually live mine.
Also I'm taking liquid aminos, vitamins, liver cleanser, and ambien/xanax to go to bed if I have to.

I had a very similiar story, I have been in treatment for about 5 months, when my doctor up and left the area. WHat?? SO, here I am in my car thinking, 5months, all that money...and still not cured. OK, I know addicts are never truly cured...Anyway, I am on day 3 with no suboxone, I went from 8mgs to 4 mgs to 2mgs to 1/2 . I just called a new doctor and asked for the real detox schedule, NO Bull#$%%. Here for those of you in same situation her answer: Suboxone leaves system about 5 days after last dose, so expect w/ds, they can last 7 more days. Since I was low on my dose less severe symptoms. She perscribed clodidine and trazadon (for sleep), both meds are non narcodic. The clodidine patch really helped my complete insanity, I was so angry about everything. I hated anyone who looked at me! The trazadone helped a little at night, but the sweats lasted for about 2weeks. I would love to ask someone who has finished treatment by tappering, how long (really) till you felt better??

I have also been on sub going on 10mo.I am gonna stop taking it in the next two wks but first i want to cut down some more to where im only taking half of a quater.pretty much just a little shaving off a pill.I have a good friend that did it this way and he pretty much had no withdrwas except for a lil bit of sweating @night and some diarrea.
I was heavily addicted to oxycodone, mostly roxys but oxys too.I am 110lbs 21yo girl.I was shooting up to 10-15 30mgs of oxycodone a day.My doc put me on 8mgs of sub originally i finally cut it down to 2mg daily. Now i take about .5(a little quater of a pill)a day.And like alot of other ppl on here i am frikkin terrified to stop. Not so much because of the withdraws because when you get down to .5 is really not that bad if you've coldturkeyed it b4.My fear is of a relapse.right now i am confortable where im at caue i know its worked for me so far i have had 1relapse in 10mo and i felt disgusting after i used so i dint do it again. But i know that relapse is a "part of recovery".
I have to say this ever since i stoped doing pills i have started to smoke weed on a regular basis and it has helped me so much!(i wanted to make sure i posted this cause i used to think i was crazy but apparently it has worked for other ppl too)I am not saying go out and burn down, what i am saying is that marijuana(as it has been proven)Can be medically beneficial in many many ways to ppl that are experiencing withdraw symptoms. It has personally helped me with nausea headaches, moodswings, depression, can even help physical pain.It has also helped me overcome cravings.

I want to share this information with anyone that is trying to get off suboxone or any narcotic. Let me tell you my story and I will let you know where to purchase it.

I had been on high dosages of hydrocodone, oxycodone and Fentanyl 13 yrs, to treat the muscle pains I would get from Fibromyalgia/Myofacial Pain Syndrome. Then the Doctor gave me Fentanyl lollipops and then the Fetenyl patch for a couple of years. Then went to a detox facility for 8 days. The worst experience to go through. Then when I got home I was still so sick that I had to stay in bed for 2 and half weeks. Then my son suggested that I see a Doctor that could prescribe Suboxone.

I have been on Suboxone for three and a half years taking 20 to 24 mg a day, and then I wanted off so the last six months I slowly tapered off until I got to 1mg for one week. Then the big day came when I told myself this is my last dose and that was April 13th, eleven days ago. Yes I agree it was just terrible or like hell for the first 24 hours. Then I started taking Kratom, a potent leaf that contains opoid like compounds although it not being an opioid. (I had to wait for 24 hours otherwise the suboxone in my system would block the Kratom from helping me). I took it every 3 to 4 hours for the first week then for the second week I have been able to space Kratom every 5 hours. What a relief!!!!! I suggest taking Kratom. Then the first 2 to 3 hours I can almost function normally. Then 1 to 2 hrs before taking more Kratom I feel some of the withdrawal symtoms but not as bad. I am able to even sleep at night but have to get up in 5 hours to take my Kratom again.

Although there are thousand of places you can purchase Kratom, this place carries the most potent products of them, you can find them here:

This is what I use for the bulk of my withdrawal treatment. An effective dosage is 1 gram, I take 2 grams but even more can be used. You would want to use the extracts but may supplement it with isolates which I do.
