Try eating 2 - 3 peeled cloves of garlic with each meal and see the difference. This type of pain is releted with mild blood clots and raw garlic helps dissolve them.

I just had one 30 seconds ago, but i get this pain, it starts slow and minor pain but then within a few seconds to maybe a minute the pain gets more extreme to the point i am wincing and grabbing my head, it feels like a lot of pressure building up on my right eye too.It has been happening for over a month now, and it sucks working in an office too, staring at the screen all the time. I never get big headaches, last headache i had was like 2 years ago.i am a bit concerned also, but i am going to visit a doctor about it and ill let you guys know what he says.

I also feel a sharp pain in the left or right side of my head when I move my head too quickly to one side, I don't know how to explain it otherwise, if I turn left its right and right it's left; its right behind the temple over the ear, if you feel it it's hard bone, but it feels like someone's stabbing anywhere between a hot needle to a butcher knife in the side of my head, and depending on the severity, it can last anywhere from 5-20 seconds of the pain slowly decreasing, the time affected increases as pain increases. It is pretty infrequent, as it is hard to tell what specific motion triggers it, and is dependent on motion, but is hard to trigger knowingly, although I haven't done a lot of trying, but happens randomly, sometimes 3+ times a month or sometimes every other but is seemingly random.

I have a pain in the right side of my head (by the bump at the low part of the head). It comes and goes. Sometimes the pain in that area causes more pressure or headaches. Some pain in the neck. It lasted about a month and went away. Then it came back in a week. My anxiety is high. I had a ct scan done and it came back great. I had blood tests done and came back great. Doctor is treating for muscle tension migraines.I'm taking 30 mg of nortriptyline. It hasn't helped the pain. Two days ago I got a cortisone shot in head. I begged for it. Shooting pains don't happen too much but I feel lots of pressure in temple area. I am a worrier and never stop thinking the worst. Anxiety is killing me.

Wow, I am amazed to discover that I am NOT alone with this condition. I first began having this kind of what I call 'head pangs' when I was 10 years old. I would have maybe 1-2 a year. Over the years, they increased to several times a year. Now, post-menopause, I experience very brief, quick sharp pangs on a daily basis, maybe 2-5 times a day. They always start out the same - very subtle then increased, then sharp, then diminish. I always react the same - I draw in my breath, squint my eyes and wait for it to subside. I've had tests in the past, with zero results. I have often wondered if it could be related to: sinuses, jaw (TMJ connection?), or maybe viral? I was diagnosed with a virus that had lodged in my brain for a brief time about 20 years ago, and they thought I had a blood clot, but only on second opinion did they pinpoint evidence of a virus. Fast forward years later, and now I'm suffering from vitamin D deficiency - am on a D3 patch but wonder if that could play a role? One more thing, my sister dropped me on my head when I was a baby, onto a coffee table. Often have wondered if any connection. I have an appt with a new neurologist this December (it's been a few years since last check on this), and am hopeful to get some kind of direction on this. It's annoying and troubling, isn't it? Again, glad to know I'm not alone.

Just sitting here working on my computer and I've had 5 of these shooting pains in my head that you call "ice pick" headaches...
So I googled it and here I am.
It's never happened until just now...
Hoping this isn't something that's going to continue!
Thank you for posting.. it's quite a scary feeling (happening now)
