I get frequent shooting pains anywhere on my skull at least twice a week, and at no particular time. They last around 10 seconds with the occaision one lasted around 2 minutes. I told my mum and she said it was something to do with my spine and that I had some something like picking up a heavy object, but she wasn't too concerned.

Do NOT keep your mobile phone near your body when operating it. EVER! Turn it off at night or at least on airplane mode.

I have had the same exact thing but only on the right side. I do a lot of computer work and also have been doing a lot of painting which has required looking up. I went to a Chiropractor and found my neck is severely out which is putting pressure on the trigeminal nerve. It's called a Cervicogenic headache. I don't know if this is what you have and I certainly would not encourage you to pursue medical attention, but it is a possibility and worth checking out.

The first time this happened to me I was about 16 (51 now), It is just as most of you describe. A sharp unreal jolt of pain, for me usually in the top to top center of my head, but occasionally other spots. I also have migraines with aura. Due to the severity of migraines I had and MRI and 2 more over the past 25 years for other reasons. But the PSH was never addressed ( also didn't see anything that would lead them to believe there was something else at play) . Even the neurologists who treated me gave me a funny look when I tried to describe it. It took me until just a few years ago to even put a name to it and realize that I was NOT the only one, though I wish in a way I was because it sucks. Sometimes it is gone for maybe years and I figure it must be gone, then it can come back with a vengeance.
I have not found anything that definitively seems to help it, because of the way it is. You never know when or why, so it is difficult. BUT, I have noticed one thing for me. When I spend significant time with my head tilted forward, that seems to correspond with it happening. Why sometimes, but not others? I , for now, have to assume things like stress, dehydration or things of that sort are involved, but just guessing.
But when they happen, I instinctively lean forward and grab my head, but recently, for some reason, I threw my head back and looked at the ceiling. This seemed to cut it off faster. Yes, we are talking a fraction of a second sometimes, but those are some horrendous fractions! Maybe this will help someone or maybe it just helps me. Might even be psychological, helping with the helplessness of it, but what the heck right?

You have best described the pain I feel. Not sure what it is. But I think it has to do with my nerves from my back/neck issues. Stops you in your tracks, super painful doesn't last long. Happens to me when I move my neck/head and it's a bad sharp pain with even like a tingling sensation a little. Still don't know what it is. Had it for years. But it's Occasional

Yip spot on. I've had it for years, both come together, ice pick type stabbing pain on top of head or inside ear. Breath taking. Usually eases after 24 hours.
