You could be brushinf too hard... are you using a soft bristle toothbrush? You should be...soft is the only one you should ever use. Hold it like a pen it will help u not push so hard. And FLOSS daily- it truly is just as important as brushing...

Had same problem. I noticed my gums swelled more the more that I brushed. Dentist told me that I needed a milder toothpaste. Crest Sensitivity works the best.
