I felt a pimple forming in the crease of my nose yesterday. I woke up this morning and underneath my eye was swollen and my lip had swollen up 2x its size. Will benadryl help with the swelling? or should i just ice it?

happening to me too right now, had this happen probably at least 2 times before. This time I am not going to attempt to pop it, because that is what has made the swelling so bad in the past. I woke up this morning on day 3, and the swelling is barely noticeable to the eye, but it hurts and is driving me crazy. I constantly have to hold myself back from popping it because I know it just makes it worse. i am just scared what it is going to look like tomorrow, I am going on a vacation with my boyfriend and his family, and they are totally going to think I have herpes :/ Just want this thing to go away!
Another question for everyone... do you smoke cigarettes (or anything else you can smoke for that matter)? Someone once told me because I am a smoker, I am more prone to getting zits around my mouth. If this is true, might be enough to make me quit!

I seem to have something like this. The pimple isn't on my lip, but it's right above it under my nose and it's making my lip swell! I'm kind of freaking out...but I guess it's just a particularly awful zit?

yeah i agree with u but cause of pimple will always differ from person to person... Some Cause Of Pimples..
1. Age
2. Disease
3. Hormonal changes
4. Diet
5. Drugs
6. Personal hygiene
7. Environment
8. Stress
So a lots of reason of Pimple......Treatment at home:
*gently wash and cleanse the affected area several times a day.
* use Lavender Essential Oil is antiseptic and is used for treatment of wounds and burns and to prevent scarring.
*use Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree Oil).. it has exceptional healing powers due to its anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and anti-septic actions. It is one of few healing oils which can be used without irritating or drying the skin.

I get these off and on (those horrible zits that cause your lip to swell).
What I have found is that as soon as I sense pressure building (and thus future swelling coming), just take the knuckle of your index finger and mash the spot against your teeth as hard as you can. It hurts like bloody murder, but it breaks-up the comedon that is causing the blockage. In many little pieces it is easier for your body to re-absorb. They go away pretty quickly after that.
And yes, I feared it was herpes simplex 1 as well, but it isn't, at least not in my case.

Same here. A few days ago i had a white zit on the top of my lip. I popped the zit amd this morining i wake up and my lip looks like i got punched in the face. I took a benedryl and it knocked me out. When i woke up, i noticed the swelling went down. About an hour later, i got a wash cloth and soaked in hot water, then i put it on my lip. An hour later, my lip was almost back to its normal size and all thats left is a bump and just a little swelling. Hopefully by moring my lip will ne back to normal.

i have the same problem, but no pimple on my lip. it is placed under my bottom lip to the right. And i tried to pop it multiple times. Then i went to the doctors and they said it might be a bacterial infection put me on antibiotics. And said to come back in if it isnt changed. I dont think it is herpes or anything but it is something that i've never incountered before...

I did find something that helps take the swelling down, you take a warm washcloth
and hold it on your lip for ten to fifteen minutes, then take a cold chamomile teabag
and hold it on your lip for five to ten minutes. You can repeat it as many times as you
like, and it took enough of the swelling away that I could smile and eat without my lip
hurting.

Hey Guys, I am in the same boat as most of you. What appeared to be an innocous zit, put topical eretheromycin that brought out most of the pus. Within a day the whole lip was swollen and now its 3-4 days, I started Amox but no signs of improvement
Did anyone of you get a resolution? Is it Herpes to try Abreva or will Benadryl work?
Thanks
Sid

I was waiting for a response and none came, so want to share my learning if someone passes this way. After my post above the pain got worse, the lip was red allover, some places was oozing yellow clear liquid and the zit had stopped oozing pus. Sleeping in the night was very difficult, everytime i warm compress drained/pained me that I had to take rest. Unfortunately I believed in old school of body will heal thyself/ less medicine so after avoiding any medicine for first 3 days, was taking 100 mg of ibuprofen twice a day and kids dosage of 250 mg 3 times a day of mox. I went to my GP on the 5th day. She took one look and said probably a viral infection spread into a bacterial infection. I was intent on knowing what was the diagnosis and she was almost blank, at this stage it is quite immaterial as this thing is pretty bad. So she put me on Valtrax 1 day 4 pills, Augmenten 750 twice daily for 10 days, zyrtec and 600mg of advil 3t a day. My wife next to me told me to shut up and eat the pills or something to that effect. At 24 hours my zit broke loose and oodles of pus came out. My swelling now at 36 hours is considerably down and have stopped the Advil, I anyway did not take zyrtec as it did n make sense that there could be allergies as well. I definitely think its a bacterial infection than a viral, the doc thought it is Herpes which I have never had but thought it starts with blisters.
Eitherway, the next time you get a zit on your lip or around.. take immediate action. And try stay healthy!

This is likely a cellulitis. We just got back from taking my son to the emergency department for this due to hugely swollen lip and also he has pimple on eyebrow that is all swollen, clear down onto his eyelid, plus fever over 101. He is now taking 2 antibiotics x 10 days. They told him it was not pus causing the swelling, but inflammation. They could tell because it had hard (induration) inflammation rather than fluctuant inflammation (fluid filled). So don't be poking with needles, etc. Just take ibuprofen (anti-inflammatory) and see the doctor for antibiotic. If you run fever or the redness/inflammation seems to be spreading, see the doctor right away or go to the emergency room if it is at night or on weekend. Infections around the lip, nose, central face are quite dangerous due to close proximity to brain and what is called the "Triangle of Death" in your central face. Seriously. Be very cautious.

yep same thing here...my zit is above my actual lip though, the swelling is directly beneath it. I read online that putting a drained tea bag on the swollen area helps it go down...It does, not all the way, but enough that I want to share it with all of you swollen lip victims. I used a green tea bag, but I think it just needs to be real tea, not herbal tea.

okay so im in the same boat. idk if its a it thats deep or a cold sore, I almost never get acne so it was weird but i thought it was a zit and it was huge n numb which is not zit like. It was bothering me so I spent 2 days trying to pop it and all i got was it healing over or a lil blood. now my lip(right top) is 4x the size and it sonly 1/2 of my top lip i look like a freak. if anyone figures it out let me no plz. and i have tried ice it doeesnt work the swelling goes down for 20-30 mi then its back to normal.
