symbicort and weight gain

I was switched from Advair to Symbicort a few months ago because of my insurance. It works well but I now have a "MOON FACE" and gained a few pounds. I work out, eat well but still have pounds to fight with.

Yes, I have gained a lot of weight since being on this medication. I went up 2 sizes in the past 4 months. Nothing I do helps lose it back and I do not eat much due to gastric bypass a few years ago. I maintained a 200lb weight loss for 5 years until I was put on symbicort.

Yes! For the last 10 years I have been on Advair. About 10 months ago I changed to Symbicort and I have gained about 30 lbs. it's frustrating. I'm eating 1500 calories a day walking 10,000 steps and gaining up to 2 lbs a week

Came here looking for answers. I'm 27, my weight has been 170 for over 10 years. I go to the gym every day (Cept Sunday). Got put on symbicort, in the past year i've been always hungry, gained 27 lbs. Been going to the gym for LONGER cardio sessions. And can't drop the weight. Doctor says symbicort does not cause weight gain. I don't even need symbicort, my asthma isnt even that bad, gonna stop using it and go back to the blue rescue inhaler once a day. Will post results, as this will be a true test.

I too am losing lots of hair. Also can't seem to keep the weight down. Thought I was losing it. Gonna try Spiriva for my COPD. I hope I can afford it if insurance won't cover all of it!

I have COPD and have been using Symbicort for a year, I watch my diet and exercise but have gained 20 pounds. I can not lose it no matter how hard I try.

I take Spiriva once a day for breathing issues. I was getting winded playing a game similar to tennis, doc told me to take a couple of hits of symbicort prior to exercise. Thus far, I've gained six pounds. Stopped taking it today, will see if the weight gain stops too. Will report.

Please dont tell people to get more exercise when they have a ravenous appetite. I too am starving every minute since I started symbicort. Stopping symbicort is the only answer. I could never do enough exercise to ward off the lbs. from horrendous appetite.

Symbicort contains cortizon which increases your appetite and causes bloating...try to maintain a weekly exercise schedule and ull be fine

I have been on symbicort for four years, during that time I have gained fifth pounds, I watch my diet, eat healthy and exercise and don't lose a pound, my asthma however is under control, it's like choosing the lesser of two evils, I'm miserable at this weight but need to breathe
