I have been taking laxatives for a couple of months to relieve chronic constipation. I can go over a week without moving my bowls. I will ususally take a laxative if I havent moved my bowls in 2 days. Is this pattern dangerous? Although I am using it for its intended issue, I have just read a few disturbing articles on the side effects. I haven't taken one in about a week but this time frame will vary. I might take them twice in one week. Help I am paranoid!

Go to a doctor! This is very unhealthy. If laxatives do not help your constipation in one week you might have something wrong with you. I would reasd the label on your laxative bottle just to make sure.
