So I was wondering if anyone could help me out with a problem I've been having for several years now. I can't put a tampon in. It hurts really bad, and it's almost like there is something blocking the pathway. I was thinking it was the hymen, but that wouldn't be that close to the entrance would it? Wouldn't it be much farther back? When I put my finger in to see what way the path is, something blocks it. What do I do? Has anyone had this experience before because now I'm worried! Thanks everyone.

The tampon, your finger or any other object is blocked by the hymen, which stretches across the entry to your vagina. You should be happy and proud that you have an intact hymen, which means that you are a virgin. You should not attempt to insert anything into your vagina, because even a very narrow object such as a thermometer that can fit through the hold in the hymen can shift or twist and tear the hymen. Tampons are not necessary to life, in many countries such as China even sophisticated, married women prefer not to wear them.
