Well im a virgin and i guess at some point in my life like many other girls broke my hymen doing whatever so its open but i noticed the top part of it is still completely intact which would be fine if it wasnt so thick to the point where i can see it even if i close my legs and its soft but not thin soft at all. I know for sure its the hymen but im wondering if itll cause problems for me if i ever have sex. So i wanted to schedule an appointment with a gynecologist but im not really sure what to schedule it under. I dont want the whole pelvic exam done but just to make sure its all normal and will cause no problems. And im wondering if i should schedule it at all as its possible itll cause no problems.

Also i overexaggerated a bit. It does not stick out at all with my legs closed.

Hi Elle, not quite sure I follow what you mean by thick and soft but not thin soft.
Your hymen is normally just a very thin tissue like membrane that covers the vagina entrance and the only way you would seed it would be to use a hand mirror to look, have you done this?

Yes. And what I meant was its thick but it's not hard. Unlike the usual thin tissue. I think at some point the bottom part was thin but the top is not.

Without actually seeing it then it's hard to say but as long as your vagina entrance isn't obscured by it I would think it wouldn't cause you any problems in the future.
Are you sure it's your hymen and not part of your labia minora?

Positive it's not that. Basically it's the part right below the urethra. Like exactly right below and from what I've seen online it's not suppose to be so thick

Does it still cover part of your vagina entrance then and do you think it would stop anything entering your vagina?

Yeah covers the top area, but it causes no problems when putting in a tampon except if I push to much on it then its a lot of pressure so I usually maneuver below it

So it does partly cover the top of your vagina entrance then?

Yeah looks like it, the bottom half is clear nothing in the way, then right there; there's that.

Have you ever tried feeling inside your vagina above it to see how much of the entrance it actually cover?

It definitely covers half of it and when u go below it; it feels like it just keeps going in the inside (going back into the vagina) like it's not just some thin tissue. Testing it I tried using two fingers to feel around and when I press up inside near that area it's pretty thick and a lot a pressure and uncomfortable. Everything else seems fine. for like whole day after checking it out like that it tends to be like very achy, like it said it also covers my urethra opening a bit but I don't think affects the way I urinate. And since apparently my hymen is broken you can see around the vagina the left over tissue which doesn't hurt but if u keep look at it up the sides it then connects to that thick skin so that's why I assumed it had to be apart of the hymen. It's the same color as well unlike all the other parts

When you say it partly covers your urethra then it shouldn't be any part of your hymen right up there but that would be where your labia minora is, when you say it's the same colour what colour is it compared to the rest?

Kinda whiteish and the rest is pink or redish

That seems very strange if it is your hymen and goes right up and partially covers your urethra, I think you should make an appointment with your gynecologist and get it checked out because it's hard to say when you can't actually see.
Let me know how you get on because it will be interesting to know.
