Heya
This is a little embarassing, but I'm 17 and am a virgin. (that's not the embarassing part; just my predicament!)
Every 3 months or so, my vagina gets really itchy after my period and I use this cream that helps rid the horrible feeling I get (I'm assuming it's just dry blood that's up there?)
Anyway, when I put my finger up to put the cream there, I noticed I can easily put my finger up but it seems to stop when I put my finger up a certain height. It seems to end at the first joint of my finger - a little underneath my finger nail. I'm sorry for sounding naive but I'm worried that my vagina isn't big enough! It should be big enough because I've had normal periods for nearly six years but I'm worried that my finger won't go up any further. I've never used a tampon either.
I'm just worried that if I get intimate with a guy that nothing will be able to happen? I've looked up vaginismus but I'm not sure if it's that. I've been really relaxed etc when I've tried again but again, the finger only goes up so far, until it seems like the opening stops. Sorry for the bad explaination and I know (surely) it can't 'stop' especially if I have normal periods but what is the G-O?
Thanks in advance!

as you have never used a tampon, and you are a virgin, it could be that when you are inserting your finger to apply the cream to stop the itching, you are coming up against your hymen. The layer of skin that (usually) only partly covers the entrance to the vagina.
remember the vagina does have the abiltiy to stretch during intercourse , and for giving birth of course.
but if you are really concerned, you will probably need your vaginal opening examined by DOC/GYN who are used to seeing many different sizes and shapes, and they will be able to advise you better.

I totally agree with whitbyhill, the one thing that concerns me though is this "itching" You might just have a yeast infection going on in there. When you have a yeast infection - just like any other infection. The area - in this case the vagina - becomes swollen, red - sometimes bleeds, discharge, and fould smelling (if left too long). So perhaps with you still being a virgin - and CONGRATULATIONS on that too!!! - along with the hymen being intact, it could be that your actually vagina is swollen (especailly at the times when you are trying to insert the cream) makes sense really doesn't it? So if I were you I would go to an actual OB/GYN, so he/she can help you and have more ideas of helping you while keeping your hymen intact. Good luck and Good Luck AND Good on ya!!! :-D

LoL thanks for the advice and support! :-)
That does make sense actually, bambi. I think I've had thrush before...
Oh no! I was hoping that a trip to the OB/GYN would not be one of the solutions on here! We live in a country town and don't really have one of those locally and I'm a little embarassed to ask Mum to take me.
Do you know of any way to stop the swelling if this is the case? It never really smells disgusting or has any of those other symptoms. It's only occasionally every few months or so at the end of a period it gets a little itchy.
I was hoping that since being a dancer, the hymen would've broken by now....maybe I should've taken up horseback riding...lol
And thanks whitbyhill :-)

(oh and I only say I wish it were broken now so that way I would know for sure if it is swollen or just my hymen!)

If you do in fact have a yeast infection and don't want to talk to anyone, try eating alot of yogurt. Yogurt has something in it that will help.

If you take achidopholus!!!! It is good bacteria, also if you make a douche - with your moms turkey baster!!!! ;-) and use warm water and vinegar, rinse out your vagina with the solution, it lowers the microbes and ph! SOME women actually insert yogurt with acidopholus into the vagina - but it is MESSY!!! So here is some natural ways of curing it, with kitchen ingredients. Good luck hun THESE ARE EXCELLENT IDEAS BY THE WAY!!

I've read that Douching is bad isn't it?? Something about it pushes all of the bacteria further into the body causing things to worsen?

the scented ones are bad, like "Floral Garden or Rain Kissed Leaves" ;-) But vinegar and water is like the wonder liquids! Vinegar and water are used to wash out dogs ears that have yeast infections, it just neutralizes the ph in the vagina. Making it more tollerant for yeast infection suppositories. Just remember the more natural something is, the better. When you add synthetic scents and cleansers, THEN your asking for trouble. That is why they say not to put talc in that region anymore.
