Appointment?
What appointment?
Oh, wait, it's coming back to me now.
He couldn't find anything wrong so he sent me to some other places.
Chest x-ray because I haven't had one recently.
That was fine.
Sent me to an ENT to shove a camera up my nose and down my throat to see what it looks like in there.
Everything is normal but my vocal cords show a little acid reflux wear so he doubled my Prilosec dose and added Tagamet at bedtime.
So it looks like I may live long enough to have to pay the bill.

At my age I have our government health plan called Medicare. It's as screwed up as most government programs. At first it paid everything, but over the years Congress has modified it to save money for the government. The first thing that began happening was doctors and hospitals were refusing to treat medicare patients as their costs rose but the government pay out didn't. So they allowed them to make the patient pay the difference. Then to save more money they instituted an annual deductible that I have to pay before they pay anything. They screwed that up even more by the way they figure it. You might think if I have a $100 deductible and the doctor bills me 120 that I would have to pay the 100 and they would pay the 20. Noooo! I pay the 120 and if medicare approves 30 as the proper charge for that treatment, only 30 is applied to my deductible so I still have 70 left to meet the deductible. The next bill I get is 100 and medicare approves 50 for that one I pay the whole 100 and now I only have 20 left on my deductible. The next bill is 80 and Medicare approves 25, they pay 5 and I pay 75. Finally I've met my deductible so the next bill comes in for 100 and they approve 35 so they pay the full 35 and I pay 65.
I will be getting a bill from my doctor for the annual physical plus a H1N1 flu shot. A bill from the hospital for the x-ray. A bill from the doctor who read the x-ray. A bill from the ENT doctor.
So I'll have to wait and see what it costs me.

Well, it's a typical government program. It started out as simply health coverage for the elderly in the mid 60s. To avoid the unpleasantness of creating a tax to pay for it they decided to use Social Security funds. SS was a program to provide income for the elderly that began in the mid 30s and was working very well with a surplus of funding that would have sustained it well into the future.
Several years later they expanded Medicare to cover a bunch of ideas that could buy them votes at home. Instead of covering only people who were too old to work they added just about anyone who could cry loud enough in large voting groups. Now it pays for handicapped, disabled, welfare, druggies who won't work, you name it. Every year the modify it in some way just like they modify the tax laws to appease some special interest group.
As all this began to decimate the SS funds they raised the SS rates on employers and began charging SS recipients for the coverage by taking it from the SS monthly stipend. When they wanted more money to fund this utopia they spun off hospital care and began charging SS recipients extra for that. They continuously adjust the numbers to satisfy their desire for money in Washington.
Every year the SS payment is supposed to be adjusted to meet the increased cost of living. The problem for us old guys is what they use to figure the cost of living. This year they say it didn't go up at all so we got no increase. My heat went up 35%, my electricity is up 30%, gasoline is up 50%. They base the cost of living on a combination of items that are major costs for young families with kids but minor costs for old folks. The cost of food went down big time this year. That's important for large families but I don't eat much compared to my heat and utilities. So the old folks cost of living went up exponentially but the over all cost of living for working people actually went down.
They cut the amount they pay out to doctors and hospitals to save money. Guess who has to pay the difference to the doctors and hospitals.
Typical government run programs!!!!!

8-| Yeh for some reason all government run programmes seem to start out good and get watered down and watered down until there of no use to anyone.

I figured I'd let him run with it for this month and I'd go for it next month. I need money to buy new wheels for my railcar and TeenMom's been stealing all my snow storms so I'm not plowing much snow this year.

I'll have April then please ;-) :-P
Still no snow? Worst snow storms over there in years according to the news earlier, you must be really unlucky 8-|

I don't think the company that sells rail wheels will accept those rewards anyway.
So you can have next month if you want it.
We came within 2 inches of setting the all time record for snow here last year so I guess I have to share it this year.

Short Story
My girlfriend was in labor with our first child.
She was shouting, "Get this out of me! Give me the drugs!"
She looked at me and yelled, "You did this to me, you bastard!"
I casually replied, "If you remember, I wanted to stick it up your ass but you said,
'That would hurt too much'." 8-|
