Since I've been doing intervals for the past while, I've noticed 6 very distinct phases. Each phase coincides with the repeat number. :: 1) OK buddy, pace yourself. You haven't done these in a while and you don't want to blow it all on the first one. 2) OMG, these are getting harder. I can't believe I've got to finish this one and do four more! What am I thinking? 3) Is that breakfast I taste in the back of my throat? Will I attract attention if I :puke: in the infield? 4) I've got to finish this one and I've still got two more to go. Next week I'm skipping doing intervals. 5) I'm going to die. Running is the dumbest sport EVER! I'm donating my running gear to charity and taking up golfing. 8O 6) Alright, last one. Even though my heart in pounding hard enough to crack my ribs, just push as hard as you can because this is the last one and you can die when you're done.

3) ...Will I attract attention if I :puke: in the infield?
Nah, that's where you're supposed to :puke:. Now, if you did it on the track, then you'd attract attention!

That list brings back some bad memories from track in HS. Coach used to interval us to death then make us do more.

it's like banging your head against a brick wall --- it feels sooooooo good when you're done (in more ways than one)
