Hello,

I'm a 21 year old female that just had a tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy three days ago. The pain is unbearable and there's a part of me that regrets having the surgery because of the pain. I've been taking sips of water to stay hydrated but my body forces me to spit it out. I haven't been able to sleep, drink, eat, or breath properly. I also have this terrible taste in my mouth. My doctor prescribed me a liquid pain medicine to take every six hours. From different experiences people said their doctor said to take it every four hours as needed. Why is mine different? I just want this pain to go away. I've had pancreatitis but this is the worst!

Hi darling. Yes, that pain that you feel is just one of the possible adenoidectomy side effects and to be totally honest with you, I really don't know a person who hasn't feel the pain after this procedure. Look, there is no reason for you to be scared. If your doctor prescribed you to take it like he told you, that is OK. The main reason why your case is different is probably that your case was more complicated and your surgery was more complicated. Don't worry, side - effects are something that is normal and everyone feels it occasional. Just follow your doctor instructions and you will be ok.
