Hi, I was reading  lot of posts about how horrific the pain is from having tonsils and adenoids removed as an adult. I’m now on day 8 and I’m not too sure what all the fuss is about. Yes it is sore and uncomfortable but you can still function. The day after surgery I drove and collected my kids from school. If you are going to do this make sure you regularly take your medication and pain tablets this will stop the pain from getting unbearable. Plus I was given a throat gargle and throat numbing spray - this really helps! My doc said eat rough/dry food ASAP, so I eat a pack of corn chips or dry toast daily. As for kids all 3 of mine have had done it done, if the child is young enough use suppositories for pain relief it’s one less thing to get them to have and you can even do it mid night while they sleep.

The key is stay on top of the pain and eat normal, avoiding super hot foods (hot coffee and soups) and high acidic foods. Every surgeon is different and we all recover/manage different Good luck.
