For the past 2 weeks, I have had random coughing fits. Sometimes I cough 2-3 times, and other times I cough for minutes, usually leading to me nearly vomiting. Last night, I went to sleep and dreamt that I was coughing. I then woke up to find that I was ACTUALLY coughing, which then lead to uncontrollable swallowing and being unable to breathe for about 10 seconds. I was gasping for breath but no air was entering my lungs as my oesophagus was constantly open. This stopped for a few seconds, but I started coughing again which, again, lead to uncontrollable swallowing. However, it only lasted for about 5 seconds this time. A few hours later, I dreamt that I was eating, and I woke up to find that I was uncontrollably swallowing AGAIN. This lasted for about 5 seconds. I fell asleep again and was woken up to find, you guessed it, I was uncontrollably swallowing again, but this time it only lasted about 3 seconds. Last week I was prescribed antihistamines, but they don't seem to be working. If it matters any, I am a 14 year old female and I do not smoke, nor do I have asthma.
