There was some really bad odor for the first week but now it's tapering off. I think it's normal but I wouldn't ignore it for too long. There's always the possibility of infection so ask your doctor especially if it's accompanied by pain and/or fever!!

What did women do before the Internet?!?  Colposcopies and their after-affects certainly wouldn't have been something talked about in person many years ago.  It's when women seek each others' advice and talk with each other that we all gain strength and powerful knowledge.  What a shame that our doctors didn't tell us about how long the discharge could continue.  I was told to wear a pad and that something like coffee grounds would be expelled--nothing like the clot-like things I've been seeing for the last few days.  I intentionally choose my doctors to be female, married, mid-40ish, working mothers, so when I say "I'm tired," they get it.  I actually feel a little betrayed by the GYN (a younger woman than usual because when that pap smear came back abnormal, I wasn't going to wait around for mine to be available), for not giving me the whole story.  As unfair as it may be, I expect more of a woman physician--she should know the anxiety causing elements and forewarn her sisters.  Keep talking to each other!

I had sex 5 days after biopsy and now I'm itchy and have a bit of white discharge. I was not told by my doctor to not have sex. Is this normal or could I now have a yeast infection?! Ugh

Whew! Thank goodness for the internet and forums such as this. Same thing begin happening to me today too, twice. I had my biopsy three days ago..and just the same as most of you have stated here, my doctor never warned me that anything like this should be expected and is normal. Why don't they do that? Don't they know that people will start to freak out when odd and random things start expelling from their bodies?! Shame on you doctors, but yay for me that it's not something serious! LOL:)

i had a cervical biopsy done on 6/13 in which he also took a same of my uterus. For the first week after the biopsy, the discharge wasn't too bad. but now it seems like it's getting worse. for the first week i was only wearing a panty liner but now i'm wearing a maxi pad. called the doctor and he said as long as i am not soaking a pad an hour i should be okay and that i could be starting my cycle early due to the stress to my cervix from the biopsy. the thing is that i am not due for my period until the 28th. has this happened to anyone else?

This was so helpful to know this is normal! My doctor told me to expect mustard colored discharge and "coffee grounds" but didn't mention the discharge would look like I was losing huge chunks of tissue! It also started several days after the procedure. The closest thing that it resembled to me was almost like discolored chicken skin...super gross.

I was searching alot about this issue, and well, i got my colposcopy on the 24th of July, and well I had that *coffee grounds* thing go on, and well my period showed up the day before, but they got everything done, happy its over, period was short, like 4 and a half days, but now, there's a discharge, a yellow discharge, with a smell to it. I cant believe this! Is this something that that can occur because of the medicines they put in there for the procedure, or, well, am I missing something? This is not acting like a yeast infection, this is acting like bacterial vaginosis! How in all hell did this pop up from what recently happened? I read it could be from new partner, new partner happened in april this year, last time we had any unprotected sex was july 11th, but , its funny how this happened right after period was done and the coffee ground issue was done. Anyone having these sort of issues? I think my vaginal PH is off, and well, all i can think of is that this happened from the procedure, I will be making a phone call tomorrow. It's nice to find things to read on internet but i cant quite find the exact issue here, any info would be appreciated :)

I too had the same thing done to me 5 days ago. Today I took a shower and wiped down there and and a long piece of skin came out. It was orange in color. I freaked out! But I just read this and am very much relieved that this seems to be normal after a colpo.

OMG!!! So happy I happened upon this forum. Thank you ladies for not being afraid to talk about your experience with this procedure. Thank you!!! I just had mine done on Friday and today this egg sized, what looked like a wadded piece of paper came out of me! I started to freak out wondering if I had a tumor or something but thanks to all of you ladies in this forum I now know it’s normal and that I don't have to worry myself sick over it any more, especially since I'm STILL waiting for my doctors nurse to call me back about it (three hours after calling). Thank you so much.
