Is vallium indicated in treatment of mild depression? I know that it is commonly used medication, so I guess that it does not have serious adverse effects. My mother used it once in treatment of muscle spasms. Does vallium affect brain or muscles, how can it selectively work on muscle spasms and not to affect nervous system? I guess it can not.

Valium works on receptors in different tissues that are located both in central nervous system and also can indirectly affects spasms. Valium has sedative effect; it causes depression of central nervous system. Valium is anti anxiety drug, not antidepressant. Because it can not work selective where we need it, unwanted effects occur. So, drowsiness almost always occur, fatigue, maybe confusion sometimes and even depression.
