Give it time. I always see these opportunities as minor procedure-related reminders of why life itself is so much more important.

I'm in my 3rd week and my range is low and raspy will it improve soon?

I had my thyroid removed five years ago. I have lost my higher range and cannot sing for extended periods of time. After about five minutes, I have no upper range at all. Even with sufficient warm up, the range is gone and my voice is exhausted. So frustrating and wonder what I can do to get it back. I also have random sore throat episodes in one side, and so am not sick.

12 years now and my range never came back. It definitely improved over time, but has not changed in the past five years. I was a soprano, now I'm most comfortable singing alto and on a bad day, tenor.

I just had a TT couple of weeks ago. Like you My voice is high pitched & weak. My doctor also does the same surgeries every year but I guess we all heal differently. My doctor said I don't have any damage nerve & my voice will get better eventually.. When? I don't know.. Could be 6 weeks up to 6 months.. It's frustrating.

My situation is like yours. I had my surgery in 2006 and still can not scream, sing, or talk as loud as I used to. There is no damage to my vocal cords either. My doctor seems to think my goiter was so big it may have stretched out my vocal cords.

Did a TT on 4th May. I'm 31 and not a singer, but I work in customer service and I talk for at least 7 to 8 hours a day. My voice was indeed hoarse and weak after surgery. Then about 1 week after I thought it sounded like it was getting better. But I was wrong. It went downhill and now my family can't even hear me speak over the radio in the car. This is very upsetting because the doctor told me he managed to preserve the nerves. No damage. He did warn me of the voice changes but nothing about it being this bad and taking so long to recover. I am just worried that once I exhaust my paid medical leave and I don't get my voice back, what am I gonna do with my work?

I had a total thyroidectomy 10 weeks ago my voice is still very much mono tone struggle to raise my voice and if I do it comes out very gruff and sounds aggressive. Cannot sing at all, also bored myself reading stories to my children as voice is so one tone. On my post open my surgeon reckoned my 'everyday' voice is normal and showed no concern with any I had.

Good morning I was wondering how your voice was? I also had mine removed inSeptember 2014 and I still can't sing the way I did. This has really upset me and makes me cry to be honest. I just didn't know it would be like this. If yours is better what did you do.

Wow sounds like me..it's so disheartening, I loved to sing and sang in church all the time. But now I am ashamed most of the time. I can only sing certain songs. Has yours gotten better? Guess I may need voice lessons.
