I am 60 years old and I lost my periods 5 years ago. I have never been using substitution therapy for menopause, but recently have started with vosamax. It is helpful in prevention of osteoporosis. My physician recommended me to take 10mg vosamax every day. Please post if you have been taking this medication in menopause. I would be grateful to hear more experiences about this drug. Thanks

Fosamax or aledronate is drug that is indicated in treatment of osteoporosis in postmenopausal period. This medication really increases bone density and reduces bone loss. It is the best absorbed if taken 30 minutes before meal, because that way possible interactions can be avoided. It is very important to treat osteoporosis that is disorder which effect can not be noticed, until cause serious damage. My friend has very good experience with fosamax, as she has always been very thin and has had thin bones, she absolutely has to use fosamax in her sixties, and fortunately, side effects were not reported in her case.
