I had almost the same exact symptoms. I was very proactive about finding answers. It turns out I have a Chiari Malformation. According to the doctor who found it, it goes undiagnosed in people all the time because it's not well understood.

People like my one son need some kind of a visual video of places on neck that need pressure and massage to loosen those tense neck muscles and across the upper shoulder area. This is not a joke...the pain I see in my sons eyes is very troubling...I have tried a deep pressure on those thick muscles deep deep down in the middle of shoulders.....It appears to have lessened his discomfort.

No pillow and good nights rest will fix this situation. With the use of the PC and sitting at a desk all day is not a great help to these people suffering from these tight-tight muscles. These people are in need of a kind person or friend, to experiment with using like an ac-cu pressure with the fingers to help loosen these tense areas.

Do a trial and error and keep notes of which techniques work then share here. THIS IS A PROBLEM in today's crazy out of control world.

I wish you sufferers the best as you share your experiences with each other. Peace. A concerned Mother.

i work for a chiropractor and nothing he does last"s very long maybe 15 min. I have been this way for 2 1/2 months now, and had a mri dhows 2 bulging discs, some arthritis and pinched nerve. Tell your car insurance you are going through this now from the car accident;. Sometimes it takes weeks for you to feel it. Most ins co's will not pay for mri without a xray first. the one video i watched explained it thoroughly and said your head is like a bowling ball about 15 lbs and try holding a ball in one hand thats how strong your neck muscles need to be. starting therapy today to learn exercises to strengthen. PS i had 4 shots in my neck in the past 3 weeks and nothing. A mild muscle also works good.

Get an MRI of your neck! I had same issues and they did an MRI of head but not of the neck. Finally they did of the neck and it was a buldging disc! Headaches can be from neck problems.

Hi, this is Visiting2044269, the creator of his thread like 6-7 years ago.

I have not gotten better. Only worse. I was told by be latest chriopractor I tried it's all upper cervical related like due to my whiplash. I had a scan showing muscle tense and my C3 area was "off the charts" that it went off the paper,
Literally, so tense it couldn't be read....

I believe I likely now have muscle damage, as my upper neck muscles always feel weak. It could be soft tissue damage, which won't shown in an MRI..

Anyone know of tests that tests the muscles? I can FEEL the weakness in my neck, and the spasms and twitching from trying to hold my head straight. It constantly feels like it wants to be massages or stretched -- neither which help sadly.

At first, soma and Clonzepam helped relax my muscles until I built a tolerance. Now nothing relaxes my muscles, ever, they are always weak and stiff. Also my shoulder boulders are NOT equally lined up, so it seems everything is being moved or messed up.

I have now constant numb hands, lack of circulation where the spacy feeling, it feels like something is cutting off oxygen to my head... Even my toes are ice cold. I now also have pain, something I didn't develop until a few years ago. Normally it was just the weak neck, and since I haven't been able to treat it, it has expanded and done who knows what to my body... Now all I can do is take meds the doctor gives (pain killers and muscle relaxers) and hope that I can find the right type of Doctor to run the right type of tests.

7 years later and I still have not found the answer out. But I KNOW it's muscle related, my muscles always feel weak, and also I know I have extreme misalignment as my X-rays showed my neck is extremely off balance, I forgot how many "degrees off". My X-rays and muscle scans show EXTREME off the charts muscle tension in C1-C3 area, which is the worst areas to have problems as they can cause any symptom you can think of and are the "control center".

So I believe if I can fix the upper cervical problems, I might finally find relief... But since my muscles have been messed up for 7+ years I wonder if "muscle memory" will get in the way and everytime I get treatment they go back to their old ways because they have been that way for so long...... I don't know.

Foggy head, sinus problems, weak neck, spasms/twitching, balance problems, even sometimes vision, numb hands and feet, poor circulation, memory problems, oh and did I mention feeling totally spaced out? the list goes and on and on...'

I had the exact same thing happen many times over the years, if you pay attention closely you will probably catch yourself tensing up your muscles almost like your shrugging your shoulders, I do it all the time from anxiety and taken citrolopram . The tensing will cause your neck muscles to fatigue and make the weak just like working out and anxiety will definitely cause disiness

I have the same problem. My PT gave me some treatments, which helped a lot. After that, try to use scarf or anything like that.
Since now I am required to do more physical stuff (and I'm not allowed to use scarf in the work place), I use KT tape (cut in half is enough). Half for the left and half for the right. Put tape vertically in the position like in this website (the image with the skull and neck muscle):

You can get KT tape in drug store without prescription.
I hope that helps. I know it's weird to use that daily, but it helps me continue with my life
