I am the OP, Visting2044269. I'm too lazy to login and don't have the motivation.

I have ALL the same problems 7 years after I made this thread!!! This website is messed up when it says "over 1 year old". I made this thread in 2009. So almost 8 years ago.....

I am getting worse daily. My muscles are a wreck, my neck is stiff 24/7 and I get foggy head, dizziness, vision problems, and countless other things...... The SCM muscle could be causing many of my problems, but it's SUPER sensitive and has too many Artiries(so?) there... When I sleep on my side, whixh is right on the scm, I wake up 10X worse....

Now I'm addicted to painkillers, and muscle relaxers, and Benzos. SOMA, which is the best muscle relaxer, used to help ease my symptoms sometimes. Anothern thing that helped short term was Clonzepam (NOT due to anxiety, but rather because Clonzepam is a super strong muscle relaxer). One time I ran out of Clonepam and had muscle twitching and spasms. Then when I took them again, it helped greatly reduce muscle spasms, weakness, etc -- but then you build a tolerance and it stops working -- OR the problem gets much worse where it's
too complex to help anymore. I'm screwed and hopeless....

I have ALL the same problems now for 8 years + I'm addicted to Vicodin/oxycodone, muscle relaxers, and Benzos/Clonzepam!! My life is a living nightmare. It's not worth living, I have to force myself everyday.

I can't keep living like this. This is misery

OH MY....I can not believe I stumbled (literally & figuratively) on here
I started out with so many other symptoms and then started getting dizzy constantly (have hx of migraines & BPPV) so went to ENT and then neurologist...have had 2 MRI's one on just the brain (clear) 2nd on brain and cervicle (herniated discs) also had 48hr EEG

I have been told to test for Lyme did with Igenex (pd out of pocket) negative...then told its MAV (migraine associated vertigo)

all I know is there are some days all I can do is sit and stare...my head is so whacked and strange feeling...Feels like I have an infection eating brain matter.

My neck hurts bad...and I get so off balanced at times I tighten my neck which makes it worse...NO ONE HAS BEEN ABLE TO HELP ME

I am tapering off benzo (diazepam) so I was told that this is all due to benzo tolerance/ withdrawal....no one I have met has the severe head symptom I have.

what is this? I even am taking Doxycycline rt now to see if I retest for Lyme the antibodies will show up because "chronic lyme" tends to hide deep in tissues...I am running around with a butterfly net catching nothing

so my next step is to go to neurotologist and have hime keep digging until he finds what is causing me to feel as if I am having a stroke 24/7

It's the OP again, Visting204426. I can't seem to login. Says my email doesn't match. Weird.

Anyways, I made this thread in 2006 to 2009!!!!! Not just "over 1 year ago". I was like 17 or 18 when I made this thread. Lookikg back at how I used to talk is kinda funny. I can tell I matured a lot, ha. Worst thing is I STILL have the problem, and it's getting worse daily.

Can I post pictures here? I want people to see my X-rays of my neck along with my scans. Maybe that will help someone finally guide me in the right direction? A decade later...

I have had:
--OVER 100 upper cervical adjustments (this brought my curve back. I had ZERO curve before. Now I have a better neck curve, but NO RELIEF)
-- Rougly 100 regular chriopractor adjustments, and have had 4-5 different chriopractors I tried.
-- physical therapy
--Pain injections (worthless, as they only help pain NOT muscle spasms, weakness, etc. Plus they didn't even help for pain, either)
--Countlesss massages, done by professionals. One was extremely knowledge and a former DR, and had been doing massage for 25 years. He said my muscles where so messed up it couldn't be put into words...
-- My spouse is a massage therapist... So I used to get massaged daily!! Or every other day! Now it's like 2-3X a week I get massaged. But no matter what I do, NOTHING helps the weakness in the neck feeling -- the feeling like the back of my neck muscles cannot support
My head and cause tons of symptoms.

My upper cervical chriopractor said oxygen to
my brain is being cut off since the back my neck muscles are SO TIGHT/STIFF.

I also have numb and cold hands, along with feet. It's cutting off circulation there too.

The brain fog is CAUSED BY THE STIFF NECK MUSCLES, im 99.99% positive this is the case. Even my upper cervical doctor who I used to go to confirmed this. ALSO: my sinus issues, vision problems, dizziness, foggy head & both short and long term memory problems, circulation problems, to even my lungs not getting enough air -- THEY ARE ALL CAUSED BY EXTREMELY STIFF NECK MUSCLES. After 10 years of being messed up, my muscles have muscle memory and sadly won't go back to their "normal state". Sometimes taking 2 Somas (the strongest muscle relaxer out there) I feel less foggy head, and all 20+ symptoms aren't as bad -- for a few hours. This is another way I know it's caused by my stiff neck. ALSO: I researched this heavily. Every single symptom can be caused from stiff neck muscles.

Especially in C1 to C3 area of neck, that area is like the control center for your body. Literally. So if it's weak and stiff there, you will have all kinds of problems like me.

I have NO ENERGY to even get out of the house!! It feels like reality is distorted when my neck is stiff. Nothing can ever relax it, it's in such bad shape. Even my shoulder blades are now messed up -- my right one is raised higher than my left one due to these muscle problems.

I don't know what to do. I no longer have insurance either, so what can I do?! Live in misery 24/7 when doctors can't figure it out....
I mean I KNOW THE CAUSE. It's my neck. But how do I fix it??? Chriopractors and massage aren't helping.
There has to be something else I can try, right?? I mean I cannot live like this.

BTW: in my first post almost 10 years ago, I mentioned soda. That is irrelevant. I just happened to be drinking soda at the time. I still have soda all the time and have tried to quit it, with zero relief... A couple things
that makes it MUCH worse? 1.) Turning my head left or right, like when shopping at the store. 2.) Sleeping. It seems my muscles must lock up when I sleep and I end up sleeping the wrong way. BUT if I only sleep say, 5 hour and lay on my back with a curved pillow it's not as bad. 3.) Watching movies or anything similar. It makes me eyes feel heavy, disoriented, plus the stiff neck causing foggy head it isn't fun. Happens when I go out to the movies.
4.) Smoking a cigarette. Nicotine and other chemicals in cigarettes can actually cause your neck to become more stiff and make your neck feel like it's locking up with stiffness. Instantly, pretty much. If I were to smoke a cigarette right now my neck would become much more stiff, causing all the symptoms that go along with it.
5.) there are many other things that cause it also or rather trigger it. But I just can't think of them right now. In fact I feel like my memory is getting worse day by day and sometimes I can't even think of normal things. Like when my neck is REALLY STIFF (and the foggy head is really bad) I can't even remember simple things, like where I work.

I have issues with my neck and head feeling weak and/or dizzy, sometimes iben get this feeling as though I'm getting a spasm or twitch...I have pretty bad a constant anxiety issues with panic attacks and all. When I firs started having issues about two years ago I'd go to the ER with an assortment of symptoms, thinking I was dying...just to be told I had anxiety. After I came to terms with the idea it was indeed what in was dealing with a lot of problems eased up but not my neck/head/dizzy/weak spells. They lingered for a long time and still come and go in times of stress. One thing I've noticed after paying waaay too much attention to my physical being is that even when I think I am relaxed and happy, I tend to be VERY tensed up. I realized this one day when I was laying down with my hubby on the couch, watching a movie and my legs started to quiver. I did not even realize how tight and tense I was keeping myself until then. I felt comfy and calm, but my legs were so tensed up (and it was a comedy movie !!!!!)... Now I constantly get quivers and I know that I've been tensed up...in my shoulders, my neck, my jaw, my legs...I'm usually tense somewhere and most often I am tensed up in my neck and shoulders. I am not a Dr, but I believe its why I get the muscle weakness feelings in my neck and back of head. I'll realize I have been leaning just a hit more forward, or head cocked to one side and to boot Ill be tense and boom! My dizzy and weakness spells hit. Perhaps try to pay attention to your posture and be mindful of how relaxed you are. It may help. Hope this is all your problem is...take care!!!!

meniere's is a syndrome so something is causing the cluster of symptoms. for me I found out my TMJ condyle had shifted to and behind my "bad" ear. this also causes stress and tension on surrounding muscles and it when the muscle spasm that the vertigo happens, not from the ear most likely. I know many who have been helped via an adjustable appliance and Physical Therapy on the head, neck, shoulder, back, cervical area. Don't get caught up in the MEniere's ENT world. they offer very little in the way of lasting help.

same symptoms as you. i was diagnosed with Meniere's. but I know now it is a TMJ condyle issue. once I wore an adjustable (abt once a month visit) TMJ appliance to shift my condyle back to position it is happier in, the physical therapy actually started to hold. I needed both. I still have disequilibrium/heavy head from time to time but my daily life is back to almost normal. You need to find a dentist with a lot of post graduate education and experience and understanding in how a jaw issue can cause these symptoms. best of luck.

I am having the exact same thing. I've been to 2 doctors, the ER and my neurologist. Everything so far is negative. Getting an MRI on my brain and neck next week. Waiting for Lyme test to come back also. My neurologist suggested NOT to go to the Chiropractor cause it can damage certain arteries in the neck, so DON'T GO BACK. I also massaged the back of my neck and touched a part that made feel dizzy. I am pretty sure they are going to diagnose me with anxiety as they always do. However my neurologist diagnosed me with Chiari Malformation. Which the brain hands lower in the back of your head and can go in the hole of your spine. I'm hoping no surgery is needed. Hope all is well or is better for you.

I have the same thing. Explained it to my Chiropractor. He suggested a towel around my neck for a few minutes. I use a cervical collar when I feel this way. It does relieve the pressure and stops that weird feeling. Just a suggestion.

Have you tried prolotherapy? I've read of many people with similar issues getting better, however it takes several treatments.

This condition is hell. 10 years and counting. tried everything. 8 sessions of prolotherapy and prp, didn't help at all, getting worse daily. Suicide is only option at this point. Cant belive my live has come to this. FML and f**k the medical community for not understanding this or doing anything to truly help the thousands of people inflicted. Just medicate us to zombies.

I am twelve and live with Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome and possibly Chiari Malformation. I had MRI's and CT's done for Chiari, but i liked to fidget when i was younger so they were blurry, there for i was not able to be diagnosed. I know a lot about pain because of these, and your symptomes sound like Chiari. So i thought you might consider researching all of these, especially Chiari. I hope it works out for you. - Your Average Zebra
