Hello. I'm too embarrased to talk about this to anyone, but I had quite a scare today.
I have never had sex. I don't know anything about my vagina. It actually scares me a whole lot. I don't even use tampons!
Today, I noticed a small bump at the very top of my vaginal area, I think right above where the clitoris is, somewhere on the outside. There is a little dark spot in the middle of it. I tried to squeeze it to see if there was a discharge, and nothing happened. I was scared, so I started examining myself a little more. I noticed that one of my labium is much different than the other. It is longer and brown, while the other one is a healthy pink looking color.
Also, I've been getting a lot of cold sores. I have no idea if that has anything to do with anything.
What could possibly be wrong with me???
I am very scared.
Thanks for your help.

for starters i wouldnt worry about your labium being different sizes.. its normal. everyones body looks different and they dont always "match up" on each side. as for the bumb at the top of the vaginal area.. it may be just an ingrown hair. if you have never had sex it is unlikely that you would have gential herpes. as for the cold sores... many people get them. yes they are a type of herpes but dont fret over it. There are two types of herpes and cold sores are generally HSV-1. while it is still herpes its nothing to be worried about. i hope i was able to help somewhat and give you the best advice i could come up with

First of all, you should not be embarrassed or afraid of your vagina. Its a body part like any other body part. You need to be familiar with all your body parts if you plan to be aware of your health. You sound rather upset about this, and I really want to encourage you to talk to a doctor. Although it is true that everyone looks different and there is probably nothing wrong, it would be wise to get a professional opinion. Furthermore, a doctor can advise you on things you should know about your vagina and your health in general. A doctor is required to keep your discussion professional and confidential.
