What are mumps?

Here is approximate “definition” … mumps is a disease, which is caused by a virus and that virus usually spreads through saliva. Virus can infect many parts of the body, especially parotid salivary glands (these are found in the back of each cheek). So when person has mump, these glands swell and become painful. These glands can also become swollen with other diseases, so many times doctors mistake other diseases for mump and for example even think a child has mumps more than once, which is really rare.
