I have recently heard of “Aquathlon”. I am not sure what it is. I am familiar with triathlon and even pentathlon but have never heard of this event. I suppose that it has something to do with swimming. After all aqua is for water, isn’t it? What are your thoughts on Aquathlon?

You are right. It is a race which involves water. It consists of a continuous, two-stage race involving swimming followed by running. An expression “Aquathon” is also sometimes used. The term aquathlon is generally accepted by the ITU and USA Triathlon sanctioning organizations. Aquathlon uses distances from the triathlon. In fact, aquathlons are like the triathlons but without the cycling part. There is also a similar sport called duathlon where the competitors cycle and run but they do not swim.
