Hello. I am 41 years old lady and I was healthy always but that has changed within three years. Since that day I am using Omacor. I am using it along with a low fat and low cholesterol diet program. According to my doctor, this should help me to lower very high triglycerides or fats in my blood. I suppose that this means something and I am not familiar with what. Today, I came up with idea that I should stop using them. I want to do that without consulting my doctor but I don’t know is this smart idea. Can you tell me what can I expect after stopping Omacor? Tnx

Hello there. First, I have the impression that you are not so interested in your health. It is not smart idea just to stop using omacor because you are feeling fine and because you do believe that there is no reason for you to use those pills anymore. You should never do this without consulting you doctor. Doctor prescribed you those pills because he probably believes that you have potential risk of heart attack. You should never stop taking pills for heart when you want to do this. It can cause serious problems. That is definitely not a good idea. Be smart!

Hey there.
Here is my advice for your problem. You should definitely continue taking your medicine for as long as your doctor tells you. You can’t stop with it just because you want. Omacor will help you to reduce risk of one or several heart attacks. Those are good pills and with that diet program you should be fine. It also helps you lower very high triglyceride levels in your body but you should know that it does not cure your condition.
So, you need to take it for as long as directed by your doctor. Maybe you will need to take it for the rest of your life.
Once you stop taking Omacor your triglyceride levels may rise again. That can lead to heart attack.

Hello everyone.
Look Catherine, I have to agree with everybody in here. Why do you want to stop taking this medications on your own? I see that there is nothing that troubles you, you are just bored to take those medications.
That is insane.
Of course that you can stop taking omacor if your doctors tell you to, but I believe that there is a reason why he didn’t tell you to stop this.
If I were you I would continue to take it as long as he tells me until it is ok to stop Omacor.
If you stop it now, without consulting him, it can lead to serious problems.
Good luck!
