hi everyone, hopefully my situation pertains to this category. i have absolutely no idea how to start this because it’s such a ridiculous situation. in may of 2022, i had my labiaplasty done. there were a few complications (my sutures tore and that was fun) but over may and june i was able to heal very consistently. i was able to go outside and do lighthearted activities with minimal pain. the only weird thing i noticed was that my clitoris was less sensitive than it used to be. i didn’t really think anything of it, though. However, one day in july, i realized that i had very little sensation in my bottom left labia. i thought i remembered it having more sensation a few days prior, but i wasn’t too sure (amy sutures tore on this side, and they were not sewn back together, so i assumed that it was nerve damage because of that). suddenly, in the beginning of august, i lost the vast majority of my sensation in the rest of my vulva. It literally happened over night. it’s been about two weeks and i have no idea what to do. I went to visit my plastic surgeon (who said she’s never seen anything like my case) and i was told that it probably didn’t have to do with the plastic surgery since so much time had passed. I contacted my gynecologist, and she was also completely stumped. In an attempt to find someone who could give me some advice, i contacted a gynecologist that i had stopped seeing a few years ago, and she also said that it probably had nothing to do do with the surgery. I have absolutely no idea what else could be causing this, though. I feel incredibly hopeless and i have no clue where to go next. has this issue happened to anyone else? i really need help, but nobody i’ve gone to knows what’s happening to me. im petrified of the idea of this being permanent.

Hello.

Sudden numbness 3 months after labiaplasty could have several potential causes:

  1. Nerve damage: During the labiaplasty procedure, nerves in the area may be damaged or severed, leading to numbness.

  2. Swelling: Swelling in the area can compress nerves and cause numbness.

  3. Infection: In rare cases, an infection may develop after the procedure, leading to numbness.

  4. Pressure: Pressure on the area, such as from tight clothing or sitting for long periods, can cause numbness.

My aunt had the similar problem as you. In her case scar tissue was the culprit. How are you today?
